Re: Dog paces

Very happy to report that he's doing really well. He now goes into the kennel willingly and immediately lays down where as before he'd stand there and stare out the door and refuse to lay down unless he was just that tired. His pacing has slowed dramatically. He's also gaining weight.

Re: Barking while playing/frustrated

I'm sorry, but I disagree. In which part of being a caring owner is it ok to use an electric collar to stop a dog from barking? The idea of pushing your views onto everyone else and expecting them to go along with them to the point of bullying others and accusing them of abuse and neglect isn't the...

Any reason you don't want to use a bike? You can pick up a nice one at the pawn shop for $80 or less.

Re: Dog paces

No pain meds, that wasn't even an option. I asked. When I took him out this morning I had him on the flexi lead so he could have some space and he ran circles around me. He was extended to the very end of the leash and just kept running. He did that yesterday too, only he wasn't running just walking...

Re: Car Anxiety?

If he's taking treats while in the car why not feed him his meals in there? Give him a peanut butter kong and let him finish it up without going somewhere? Sit with him and a laptop or something and watch a short video like you would on the couch while he's next to you? If he can handle all of that ...

Canned food that's dried out a bit so that it's not as messy, Natural Balance food rolls are great and when you microwave them they stink like crazy.

You can also try turkey bologna microwaved.

Solitary confinement? Do you people have jobs outside of the home that take you away for 8 hours a day? Because that's just CRUEL! How dare you expect your dog to be alone for such a long time! Seriously people. What's worse? A dog has a loving home that gives her what they can until the situation i...

Brought home a 12 month old pit mix. He was found as a stray and I adopted from AC. He just had his neuter surgery Wednesday but before that when I took him out into the play yard at the shelter he was really awesome. Super friendly, wanted to climb in my lap, followed me everywhere (seriously, he d...

Re: Need some advice in raising a pit bull puppy

If your dog feels terrorized by the fact that there's strange noises in the house caused by another animal then you need to seek a behaviorist and talk to your vet about calming solutions. One thing you can get is DAP from online and spray his bedding or buy the plugin version and put them around th...

Re: Head collars

While a flat collar does not directly operate on a dog's muzzle You're right. A flat collar does not yank a dog around by it's head. I think everyone here knows that. It shouldn't be a correction, it should be gentle pressure Wait.. what?? A 'gentle pressure' isn't a correction? Since when? If a 'g...

Re: Socializing a Dog in a "yuppy" area.. lol

I realize it's a frozen moment in time but that picture makes me VERY uneasy. The blue/black dog is stiff with his head up high and avoiding looking at the red dog, who's going whale eyed and leaning way from the stiff dog. Is this your dog's normal body posture toward other dogs or is it just an un...

Re: Another sit means sit trainer abusing dogs

They want fast results because they lack empathy toward living things. It's been my experience being around many different types of people that folks who do things like this to their dogs also do similar to each other and their children. It's not only the dogs who suffer, but at least seeing people ...

Re: confused about rice and potatoes.

Fact is your dog is having digestive issues and you ARE going to have to limit your lifestyle until the problem is ironed out. You wouldn't do spontaneous road trips with a infant who's suffering from colic, would you? Your dog needs stability so you can figure out what's going on. I also suggest tr...
