Do I need a click?

Is a treat enough?

Like I have said before on other threads, my dog Misha is terrified of the clicker noise. I have begun to use a reinforcer word, but I really don't think she even gets it. If I just praise her with a treat will that suffice?

Re: Food Hound

Yea broken that is what I do. I push him away, say "no", and put him in his crate. Then when Mischa is done I let him back out.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Food Hound

Bryce is nuts. He goes bizzerk over food. Once I feed him, he eats it like it is his last meal. 2 cups of food will literally disappear within 30 seconds. It is frightening lol. The problem I have is with Mischa's food. He ALWAYS runs and eats her food after he finishes his. Besides locking him in h...

Re: Another foster

I agree with you about the labs lol.

I have a puppy right now who is the biggest bundle of destruction and chaos you can possibly imagine. Most stubborn dog I have ever met.

Going to Kill My Lab

Bryce is 13 weeks. He CONSTANTLY pees in my house. I JUST let him out 2 minutes ago, he takes a long pee and we come back in side. He walks over to the carpet 10 seconds later, squats, and pees right on the rug. I don't know what to do at this point.

Re: Treats for Training

I just got a clicker, went to do our first clicker session, clicked it once, and Mischa freaked the hell out. She went nuts. Won't even come near me now. O boy.

Treats for Training

Can someone explain to me how using treats for training, does not take the dogs focus off you and instead directs it to the food.... I would love to be convinced that this is not true, but at the moment still believe it to be the case.

Pooping In Crate

My dog has a problem with pooping in her crate. Ever since I got her, she goes pee outside fine, but she never goes poop. After the walk, I put her in the cage, and 5 mins later she craps everywhere. How can I deal with this?

Re: Need Serious Help

Sure, I can agree with that. But she is a staffy/pit mix. That much is undebateable.

As far as the sharpei.... maybe not. Definitely possible she could have some collie type breed mixed into her.

Re: Need Serious Help

Grrr, that was supposed to be a response but the stupid phone is not cooperating. The behaviors you mentioned are what you are guessing, signals on uncertainty and nervousness. Not something o would be petting her while she's doing because they're both flight/appeasement signals designed to say &qu...
