Re: Coats and PJs......

Ajax loves to snuggle in the winter and gets easiky chilled. I can perfectly fine in a tank too and long pants but Ajax will be trying to burrow deep into the covers. I tend to encourage the snuggles because he gives off crazy amounts of body heat!

Re: Starting to worry about Dolly and the baby

Ajax showed a little of the same behavior when we first started putting Chloe on the floor for tummy time. He would want to be very, very close to her and made me nervous because he can be easily excitable. He settled down after a while and largely ignored her. She's creeping now and showing a lot o...

Re: What do you think of head collars? Like the Gentle Lead

I had great success with it! I was sure to watch the video and read the little booklet before starting though. And as Stormi said, proper desensitization is a must! I had a friend who used it with her German Shepherd without desensitizing him first and he scratched his face until it bled trying to g...

Re: Transitioning from an inside to outside dog

Having an outside dog is not necessarily a bad thing. The problem many, including me, have is that it seems that you are putting this boy you hardly know ahead of Snow and Koi. I can see this easily becoming a situation where the boy doesn't like how much time you spend outside with the dogs so you ...

Re: Puppy will be here in a month - What do I need?

He's adorable! :inlove: As for the kennel, I bought a full grown sized kennel and blocked off the area that he wouldn't be using with some bulky blankets. I would recommend getting an adjustable one is you can though. It's much easier to keep divided! Sorry, I can't suggest any good brands but you c...

Re: How many think this is worth a laugh?

:goodpost: I was afraid to post that I was one of the ones that thought it was funny at first. I didn't want to be labelled ignorant or a dog abuser because I simply don't know that much about dog behavior. I have learned a lot from being on this forum and reading and studying what the behaviorists ...

Re: Can exercising a young dog be dangerous?

Ajax is six months old and we run a little bit here and there. It's never more than a few minutes at a time and it's mostly on dirt, but he loves being able to jog along beside me. We started taking him on short walks (10-15 minutes) when he was about 12 weeks old and up to date on his shots. From t...

Re: Purdue Vaccine Study

Ajax has had all his puppy shots (he's five months old now), so can I just ask for the three year vaccines when he goes back for more shots? I'm not sure if my vet normally suggests boosters every year, but I definitely don't want to over vaccinate him. I want to do what's best for him so if a boost...

Well in that case, I would say the OP is in great hands! The OP can't do much better than what she's already doing.

Re: Dog Aggression need help

I disagree. Our foster dog and our resident female absolutely HATED each other, but we were able to walk them together without incident. Highflyer, I think I understand why you're saying this (mostly to be safe) but I also think it can be frightening and overwhelming for someone new to realizing Pi...

Re: Dog Aggression need help

Dog aggression is expected in APBTs. It's what they were bred for. It manifests itself usually after maturity. A dog can be fine with other dogs when he is a puppy and then absolutely hate them once he reaches maturity or even after that. This is something that every pit bull owner must be ready for...
