Re: Excited Growling?

Ugh! Lol I don't WANT him to growl again but I do because I want to see how he is acting. He has growled before. I took him to work to visit (as I had many times before but it had been months) for everyone to see him now that he was full grown. He was surrounded by maybe 7-10 people all reaching for...

Re: Excited Growling?

Well in this case he was pawing at her and reaching out to her over the fence, but he usually doesn't appear to be in a position that he wants to play. I don't know if it is him being uncomfortable or excitement. I need to really pay attention to his body language. Anyone have any good resources for...

Excited Growling?

So, my APBT is a little over a year old (about 16 months) and he has been doing this weird thing. Sometimes, when he is greeting someone new or someone he doesn't see very often, he lets out a growl. Like, today he was meeting my neighbors daughter in law, who has an APBT. He was up on railing, wigg...

Re: Nature's Variety (or TOTW)

I am going to go through and read all the posts on the food! I haven't had any free time but I had him at the vet and his protein:creatinine ratio test came back as a .1 and they say they like to see it below .5 so he is perfect! I am going to read through the rest of the posts later today, hopefull...

Nature's Variety (or TOTW)

Just curious - I am feeling like a cereal food switcher. I started Chaos out on Science Diet as a puppy. I started educating myself and read a lot about how the "natural" foods are better. I decided to stop by the local pet store that caters to this market and they told me I should ...

Excess Protein in Urine

So my lovely dog started peeing and pooping in the house this past weekend (I was away and he was with my parents) and I thought it was behavioral. He also pooped so then I was leaning more towards behavioral. I figured I would get his urine checked to be sure it wasn't a UTI and he was due for his ...

Vicious Dog - Pennsylvania

Can someone provide me information on who I can contact about a vicious dog in Pennsylvania? My neighbors dog has bitten multiple people out of nowhere. Unfortunately, they were all friends of the family and got away with it unreported. I am talking at least 3-4 different people this dog has bitten....

Re: Feeding Raw

Do you think it is a bad approach to feed a kibble diet (I do not trust myself to provide a healthy, balanced diet for my dog at this point) and throw in some raw here and there? Like I said, two or three nights a week throwing in some chicken backs/legs or other meats I can get my hands on. I will ...

Re: Merrick Pet Care's Before Grain Food

Hmm! Maybe I will consider it! Just switched them to TOTW so I will see how they do on that first!

Thanks!

Re: Feeding Raw

Well I don't think I could ever do the prey model - especially the rabbits! But tonight we are throwing in some chicken backs for our dogs for the first time. :)

Merrick Pet Care's Before Grain Food

We just switched our dogs over to Taste of the Wild and when we went to the Pet Store today there was a lady handing out information and free samples of BG (Before Grain). Dog Food Analysis or whatever the site is gave it 5 stars. What do you guys think of this food? How is it when compared to other...

Re: How Have You Stayed Calm/Relaxed?

Thanks for the input! :) I have noticed that carrying things as precautionary tools has given me major relief. Just knowing that I have the ability to stop a fight if it were to take place or to deter another dog makes me feel that much better. I have also seen my dog calm down a lot over the past f...

Re: Feeding Raw

What are the benefits of BARF (I am assuming is the eggs/fruits/milks etc) vs. the raw vs. the prey?

Raw I am meaning like chicken legs, and individual parts.

Prey being whole parts (legs, heads, etc).

Or if you prefer one of the other - why?

Re: Feeding Raw

Vin, I had a foster dog that just didn't get eating the whole rabbit thing...so we ended up chopping it into chunks, he ate the crap out of the heads. :huh?: He was a strange creature. The rest of the dogs generally start at the head and grind their way down. As far as freezing goes, to be honest, ...

Re: Need help with Blu's behavior toward select strangers

That's a great training concept - I actually have been putting a lot of it into place already with my Pit . He sits and waits to eat (I don't even have to tell him to wait he just stares at me). He waits when he is getting out of the car. Since he has mastered all of this I am going to move on to si...
