Skunked

Well it finally happened. Finnegan got sprayed by a skunk in our fenced in yard last night. She was bugging me to go out at about midnight so I let her out into the back yard. She took off like a rocket around the corner of the garage towards the tree where she usually chases squirrels. I hear some ...

Gravol is safe for dogs. Our older (non-pit bull) dog suffers from vestibular syndrome. Our vet told us to give him gravol when he has one of his episodes. It helps with the vertigo and calms him down. He weighs about 80lbs so for a 50 lb dog you might want to reduce the dose to a half a pill or les...

Both Finnegan and my late pit mix Rico do(did) this. Our lab/newf mix on the other hand, avoids eye contact. Maybe it is a bullie thing.

I just read this. I'm so sorry for your loss. Please try and remember what a happy time Slim had with you. He was lucky to find such a caring owner after such a terrible start in life.

That's how Finnegan catches squirrels. The first time I saw it in action I thought it was so funny as none of my other dogs had ever done it.

Both Finnegan and my late great pit mix Rico like/liked to stare at me. Sort of "the look of love stare". By contrast, our lab/newf mix Max will hardly make eye contact at all, and certainly won't hold your eye.

Hopefully your vet is just being really thorough (a good thing) and the problem will just turn out to be nothing.

Just out of curiosity how old is Stockey? The symptoms and diagnosis that you describe are familiar to me. Not to scare you but our old pit bull mix Rico developed similar symptoms that then developed into congestive heart failure when he was 15 years old. He was put on diuretics and heart medicatio...

I buy my stuffies at local charity thrift shops. You can get all kinds of them for really cheap.

Finnegan does this too and I have proof. Check out the eye (or lack thereof) on the teddy bear. There is another empty carcass behind her to the right. http://pic9.picturetrail.com/VOL272/2001859/7142373/92747348.jpg Next goes the lion king. http://pic9.picturetrail.com/VOL272/2001859/7142373/927473...

You are surely a very strong and caring person to have been able to make the run decision regardless of how emotionally difficult it was.

Rest in peace Biscuit.
