Re: skittish & refusing to walk

so, bella is back to normal, walking confidently down all streets without stopping. we took it slow. I didn't make her walk down any busy streets & encouraged her when she walked, ignoring her when she stopped. it took a lot of patience but she seems to be walking normally on her accord. I think...

Re: skittish & refusing to walk

she's likely a year & half or older. I took her to the vet last week & physically she is fine. now that you mention fireworks... on canada day I took her out on a walk at night & while we were out the fireworks began going off & she really freaked out. for a few days afterwards she w...

skittish & refusing to walk

hey all. I'm having a little bit of a problem, err... situation with bella. sometimes she seems like such a confident little puppy, running around, playing, being silly & other times she is the most skittish scared dog in the world. recently while out on walks around the neighborhood she has beg...

Re: not eating... weird routine

she's totally caught on now & eating fine.
it's strange but I feel like she's quite a bit more obedient now as well. she's been a brilliant listener the past couple days. :)

Re: not eating... weird routine

Right. I'd put her food down for a set amount of time (15 minutes) and then put it away until dinner, or the next day. She will catch on that this is her food and this is the time that she has to eat it. :) she's starting to catch on. at first she wasn't eating from her bowl & still stood by me...

Re: not eating... weird routine

Just an aside about the grass eating. My little weirdo has done it the entire 5 years I've had him, with few ill effects. Occasionally, he will gag some back up, because since he's not a herbivore, he can't chew it really well. But definitely not throwing up. I have people comment about it all the ...

Re: not eating... weird routine

You've created a spoiled dog. No more scraps instead of dog food. Dogs can go for a few days without food and nothing bad will happen. It takes longer than that to start starving. :) I kind of figured this was the case. should I just let her tough it out & stop feeding her my scraps? eventually...

not eating... weird routine

hey all. I'm having a weird situation with my dog, bella. she is about a year & a half old. I've had her since february. in the mornings the first thing she wants to do is go outside, obviously. she scours around the backyard & starts munching on grass. every once & awhile she'll throw i...

raw bones? what is safe?

hey all. I've read so many conflicting points about feeding raw bones & I'm curious how all of you feel. a lot of my friends feed their dogs raw bones that they get from the farmers market & I thought I'd like to try these out with bella, because they're pretty cheap & everything I had h...

Re: How to Make a Dog Vomit

recently bella got into some onions & I had a panic attack. we tried the hydrogen peroxide but it wasn't "active" (didn't realize till a few minutes had past) so I fed her a spoonful of salt & that did the trick very quickly. she puked everything up & didn't even seem upset wit...

Re: housetraining 16 month old rescue? help?

hey all. sorry I never followed up on this issue. bella hasn't had any accidents in doors in quite awhile, even at my girlfriend's house. we tried the leash method for awhile & every time she stirred in the night I'd get dressed & take her out. she now lets me know every time she needs to go...

Re: housetraining 16 month old rescue? help?

There is a thread for crate training. Please don't just put her in there. It needs to be a slow introduction and positive so she learns to like it in there. Otherwise, she will be screaming, barking, and possibly destroy the crate and injure herself. oh my. I have no intentions of just putting her ...

Re: housetraining 16 month old rescue? help?

thanks for the replies. she hasn't had a vet visit since I started fostering her & to be honest I'm not even clear on what shots she has because the rescue misplaced her vet records. a visit to the vet is surely in her future. she is not crate trained to my knowledge. we do have a crate for her ...

housetraining 16 month old rescue? help?

hey all. I'm having some difficulty with my dog, bella. she is an approximately sixteen month old rescue pit bull/possibly lab mix. I fostered her for over two months before finally adopting her recently. when I first started fostering her I quickly found out she was not completely housebroken, in f...
