Re: More frequent BM on grain free?

So, we are at 5 days now, and I did call the vet because I just wanted to be sure, and she recommended that just because his poops are firm, he could be sensitive/allergic to that type of protein. She said that in her experience dogs with allergies do have bowel movements more often. I never knew th...

Re: More frequent BM on grain free?

My dogs eat a little raw and 1meal(1 cup) of grain free dog food a day. They poop maybe 3-4x a day, but its a small amount each time. I think the morning poop is the biggest. If that helps lol I'm gonna take your advice...right now he's at about 2 cups a day....recommended is almost 3 cups, and tha...

Re: More frequent BM on grain free?

Kanobi experienced the same issue after moving him to grain/gluten/potato free. I also feed NV kibble. Three things that he gets on almost a daily basis now that seemed to clear up his multiple bowel movements: 1) his nighttime snack is a small amount of ALL natural Jiff or Skippy peanutbutter. The...

Re: confused about rice and potatoes.

Stewie my Pit/Bulldog mix can't do potatoes or rice. He throws up or gets the poopies. I refuse to do Raw as we travel a ton as well...I'll just do kibble. I feed Nature's Variety Rawboost Venison and it is HEAVEN on his tummy. We never had any issues with sweet potatoes that I can tell...or with gr...

More frequent BM on grain free?

My two pitties Ruby and Stewie have been on Nature's Variety Instinct Rawboost Venison dry kibble now for almost a year and doing fantastic. It's the perfect solution to Stewie's allergies and they love the taste. Recently I got my first foster dog and he was brought up entirely on on Pedigree, the ...

Re: I almost lost my Stewie!!!!!!!! Food Change? Parvo? Vets

Your dog had antibiotic responsive gastroenteritis, not parvo. If he'd come to my clinic, I would have recommended hospitalizing him on IV Fluids and antibiotics for 24 hours. Dogs that vomit can't keep their medications down, and get better much faster with IV fluids (generally 24 hours instead of...

Re: I almost lost my Stewie!!!!!!!! Food Change? Parvo? Vets

I just got back from our farm vet, it was worth the drive. It is in FACT Giardia. Which what in the heck...I had NO idea I should be vaccinating against it??? I am even more irritated now because I SPECIFICALLY asked my vet at Ruby's appointment a few years ago that because we have a cabin in Northe...

*And I should add...no proof it was parvo...I used that term too loosely. Should have said virus or bacterial infection. Sorry...in my grumpy mood I am a poor author!

I almost lost my Stewie!!!!!!!! Food Change? Parvo? Vets!

After this week I have lost all faith in the local vets. Time to go back to my dad's farm vet again. *sigh* Do you guys ever feel like vets think you are helpless and can't take care of your pets yourself? I was switch Stewie's food...not totally switching...just more kibble and less of the Honest K...

Re: Does Merrick really make a gravy when soaked?

I don't mean to hijack, but one of Susie's eyes is usually wet where you might see eye boogies. Do you think this is a sign that her food is disagreeing with her? It's not red at all. I've been feeding her Wellness for the last year or so, she's probably ten or eleven years old. I was told by my ve...

Re: Does Merrick really make a gravy when soaked?

Well it's driving Stewie's eye-boogers crazy...poor baby has eye drainiage from foods that don't agree with him and his belly is all pink and itchy. So....no way am I gonna continue feeding Merrick. I think we will try Canidae. I only had made it to about a 50/50 of old and new food...but that was e...

Does Merrick really make a gravy when soaked?

My dogs are bonkers about warm "something" mixed in with their kibble. Right now I feed 1/2 portion Chicken Soup and 1/2 portion The Honest Kitchen Verve. They love it b/c I make The Honest Kitchen with super warm water...but I'm looking to simplify and get away from 2 different things to ...

Re: 2 New pitbull puppies

Oh wow! 2 9 week old pups? You're a better man than I am! LOL I had my hands full with both of mine...and they are 2 years apart! I'm enjoying them to pieces not having puppies to deal with anymore...our next one will most likely be a senior dog. I think it will be exciting training each one...and g...
