Re: Blue Ridge Beef - Puppy Mix (Raw)

I just got a new, unexpected, kitten. I've got him on the Blue Ridge Beef Kitten mix with a high quality kibble as well. He's doing excellent on it. Though it's only been 3 weeks.

Need arthroscopic surgery in NE Ohio

Anyone know of vets in the NE OH or NW PA area that are doing arthroscopic surgery? A friend of mine has a 1yr old hound that has Osteochondritis Dissidnes (probably spelled that wrong) and is going to need surgery. I'm trying to help her find vets capable of performing the surgery and pricing.

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

I'm convinced it doesn't hurt because I have EXPERIENCE, not an Internet article. I have experience, professional, surgical experience. I worked for a vet that did ear crops for years, and the only surgery that required the dog to be sedated after it woke up from the procedure was an ear crop...

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

Heck, a non-cartilage ear piercing will hurt a bit afterward, at least mine did. The initial piercing only burned, but it hurt for a month or so after. I got my cartilage pierced in 2000. It was OK for a bit, then got infected about a month out. I still have pain when something hits that part of my...

Also at that age it's not uncommon for people with large snakes to go looking for "free" kittens and puppies to feed their snakes or other reptiles. You should never just give a kitten or puppy away.

Re: Old dog vestibular disease?

My previous dog Flip had this. There are 3 known causes, though there may be others. A deep inner ear infection, swollen nerves leading to/from the inner ear or a tumor pressing against the inner ear. I did not have a good experience with this, but that's likely because of how far gone Flip was befo...

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

The way I see it most of the breeds that get cropped and/or docked were used as guard dogs, either for property or themselves or as fighting dogs. Cropping ears and docking tails makes the dogs harder for people and other dogs to read. With the exception of some herding and hunting breeds that are d...

I can't blame you for wanting to rule out environmental issues. And if this is a vet who's only seen Cash for his tail injury I can understand your reluctance. Does your regular vet have any experience in behavioral issues?

Re: Cash's Anxiety...

My Will is on anit-anxiety medication. It's been a lifesaver for him literally. It's helped bring him down to the point where we can start to work through his fears. He can be left alone (as long as it's part of the schedule) we can go to the park and hike on the rarely used trails. He came to me wi...

That incision looks gerogous. Nice and clean, no exudate and any swellling has gone down. Still has some irritation at the staple sites, but that's expected with her moving around.

Re: What can I give her for pain?

Just because I saw it on that OC homeopathy one you got. Aspirin is derived from Willow Bark. Giving Willow Bark is the same as giving aspirin. So be careful not to give it with the Rimadyl, just like aspirin. I hope that's not true! The homeopathy one I got has recommended dosages for giving it da...

Re: I almost lost my Stewie!!!!!!!! Food Change? Parvo? Vets

The Giardia vaccine nearly killed one of my cats. First visit to a new vet a few years ago and they popped my cats with vaccines before I could even ask what they were giving. Kearith nearly ended up in emergency. I was just lucky that I was in VT school at the time and knew how to recognize and dea...
