why does dog keep barking at my husband?

We've had our Doodle for about 6 months. About 2 months ago he began just randomly barking at my husband. My husband can be sitting on the sofa, Doodle will be cuddling and licking his hand then just start barking and barking. He will paceback and forth around the room barking, coming close and lick...

treadmill help.

Due to several reasons, my dogs and I are not able to take our regular daily walks. Cali needs excercise. I have a really nice treadmill that I don't use as much as I should. It's actually kinda funny that half the time cali goes to the basement with me, I turn around to find her standing on the tre...

looking for help in southern pa

I am looking for a trainer in southern central pa. The only ones I have been able to find are bark busters and the local petsmart. I have researched bark busters and think that their methods would be bad for my dog. And I tried petsmart and was simply not happy with the trainer.

Two dogs playing... too rough?

We just took in a 5 month old foster puppy, Cody. We have a 2 year old rescue, Cali. They seem to adjusting well with a few issues. This may be more of an issue with me than with them. They play. Kinda rough. Neither ever seems to be hurt and they will both keep at it, tugging, nipping, pulling. The...

Crate agression with new puppy foster

We just took in a 5 month old foster puppy, Cody. He and my 2 year old rescue, Cali, seem to be getting along okay so far. There are some little territory and dominance issues but they seem to be working themselves out. Both came from homes with other dogs and both seem to be well socialized with ot...

Re: Old dog vestibular disease?

My last girl, Harley, went through this twice in the 2 years before she passed away at 13 years old. I remember the helpless feelings I had. I was able to take off work for a few days and stayed with her every hour of the day. She had the eye movements that were heartbreaking to watch. For the first...

What is needed to be called a trainer?

Are the any certifications or education needed for someone to call himself or herself a dog trainer? The trainer I've been using will consistently refer to what she did and what methods she used to train her own dogs. In most instances, I end up thinking that just because something worked for traini...

Head collar help

I purchased the head collar weeks ago and have had it out so Cali could smell it, look at it, etc. Started with just looping it over her head like a regular collar and moving on. Saturday while we were at training (we had to schedule separately from the rest of our group because of my work schedule)...

Change in food stinks! Literally.

Cali was on science diet when she came to me so I kept her on that until she settled in. Within the past few days, I started mixing in TOTW bison and she loves it! She hasn't been too much of an eater up til now but with the addition of the TOTW, she will sit and eat her whole bowl. She loves it! We...

Re: Bumpy Back?

There are probably a dozen bumps (total) down her back and on both sides so not just where the injections were. There are none on her face, neck, front legs, belly, or inside of rear legs.

Bumpy Back?

Cali had her vaccinations on Saturday, and had a microchip put in. She was also bathed and groomed. Everything has been fine but last night I noticed that she has bumps on her back. They aren't painful as far as I can tell. When I part her hair, they don't appear to be red. I figured that if it were...

Microchip concern: Have I done enough?

I took cali to one of the luv my pets clinics at petco to have her shots (couldn't pass up the price). So I opted to have her microchipped just in case. She got her vaccinations and they put in the microchip. She did great! But when they scanned her to make sure the chip registered, another one show...

Re: Need harness help for serious puller!

Still using the harness and the martingale collar. Tonight I was able to see her as she tried to escape the harness. She ran then stopped, immediately jumped around so her head was facing me and tried pulling her whole body backwards through it and since the leash had gone taut, I was actually pulli...
