Re: Is Cash Underweight?

I don't want to say he is carrying extra weight because I feel that might imply his food could/should be cut to some degree. For what I am assuming is a laid back house dog, he looks good to me. If he were to lose any weight but retain his current physique... He would be what I call "skinny-fat...

I feed Earthborn, those exact two formulas as well. I love it and the dogs look great.

Re: Need help putting weight on Kahne

A roach back? Is that something I need to worry about? He of course has been to the vet for check ups but they never said anything about his back? No, it just means there is a bit of a curve to the shape of his spine. It's normal. He looks to be at a good weight. Lean with some muscle definition an...

Re: Healthy weight

She is too thin, and needs to gain weight. I do think a fit dog of a smooth coated breed should be showing some rib. Nichole's dogs are an example of that, they are in good condition. This dog doesn't have a lot of muscle, though, which should also be easy to see. The Purina weight chart is IMO mis...

Re: Canned Food

I feed Isaac canned food in addition to his dry kibble. I recently picked up a can of Tiki Dog Kauai Chicken and Prawns (In lobster consomme lol)... and let me tell you it's nearly cured my canned food phobia. https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/myalbum/photos/photo17/e4/10/c6d0ab420c18__1292885622000....

Re: Hmm... choices

I like Earthborn, I feed their Primitive Natural formula (grain free) and like the higher calorie content.

But it's not going to help weight loss. TOTW is what I'd go with.

Re: importance of Warmup/Cooldown time?

This makes perfect sense to me as I myself am an athlete but to be honest I never though about it for my dogs. Thanks for this. Also GSDbulldog, you wrote about post workout supplement. What do you give your dogs? I have been thinking about feeding part of the dogs meal straight after a heavy sessi...

Re: ACL Issues?

I had my vet examine him,

There has been no swelling nor signs of pain and he is back to his old self after a week of rest from extensive exercise. We're going to take it easier, of course. But I'm a bit relieved, keeping him rested is harder than keeping him worked.

Re: importance of Warmup/Cooldown time?

They are crucial, IMO. I do a 30 minute warm-up of walking, building up to a brisk pace. I use this time to make sure my dog is completely emptied out. Cool-downs consist of the same, but opposite. We start at a brisker pace and slow down gradually until he has stopped panting hard. I also use this ...
