TICK EMERGENCY!!!

I got frontline from the vet. They also gave me a bottle of Ovitrol Plus. I sprayed it allllll over him. It seemed to kill the Fleas and ticks quickly. I unfortunately had to have the dog with me in the car for a couple of hours, however, so I had to spray my car out too. This is a young chihuahua, ...

TICK EMERGENCY!!!

I picked up a very sweet mixed pup off the side of the road today. He is COVERED in fleas and ticks. These are some of the biggest damn ticks I've ever seen in my life. The poor dog is only like 6 months old. I got some tick spray from the vet but it is so strong, it took my nail polish off. And oth...

New member from Australia!!

Welcome! But yeah, I agree. Bella's gotten out of our yard twice. Thankfully, this is a fairly pit friendly area. Forgive me for not knowing, when were pits banned in Australia? Makes me sick that they'd just want to put her down for nothing...

Re: Should I be worried about a dog fight...

I know no one has replied to this in a couple of days, but I just thought I'd throw in my two cents. My husband and I are raising two female APBT and all I can tell you is -- be prepared for anything. We knew two females was not the best option, but it was fate. They were both adults when we got the...

Re: Bloody nails?

That just doesn't seem to be it. I am leaning toward more of a pigmentation type thing, or even just dried blood from excessive running and play. We're keeping an eye on it, but it doesn't seem to be causing any discomfort and she doesn't even notice it.

Bloody nails?

That's so strange! I've never seen it before, so it bothered me. But it's good to hear that others' vets have the same opinion as mine.

Bloody nails?

Hmmm maybe so! I just worry about it hurting her...but like I said, it doesn't seem to bother her a bit.

Re: Bloody nails?

They used to be pink, and now appear as if blood is inside of them. I don't know; never seen it before.

Bloody nails?

Sophie always seems to have pools of blood in most of her nails. This doesn't seem painful to her and I cut both dog's nails myself twice a month. When we got her, she had a couple of bloody nails but the vet said it could be from running so much. (She was a stray at the kennel.) She runs a lot stil...

Weird leg bump popped and came back

I have no idea about her past. We scooped her up from a kill shelter and gave her love. :-) We thought it might be a ganglion cyst too!! People called them bible cysts, I think, because they'd smack em with a heavy book to make them go away. I've heard dogs can get them, it's just rare. She's so you...

Weird leg bump popped and came back

Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone has seen something like this before, not searching for a diagnosis because we won't know what it is without a biopsy. :-) Bella had this weird leg bump ever since we got her last September from a shelter. It's on her right leg, sort of on the inside of her "wr...

Re: New "foster" mom in Pittsburgh

So sweet. He looks sort of like how I'd imagine my Sophie girl must have looked as a puppy. Except her opposite eye is black and she's got an eyebrow that I just melt over. LOL. We have two pit (mixes? I really don't know for sure what they are but for ease of everything, I just call them pits) and ...

Re: New Pit owner from southwest Oklahoma

Rusty's cute little feet look like my Sophie's. We're not really sure what Sophie is ... some sort of pit-x or something. But she has those dainty little toes!
