Re: Vaccination protocol

Oh I didn't know. Haha I was just saying what I thought. It sounds reasonable doesn't it? I wasn't trying to sound rude either...When I reread what I typed it sounded a little snotty!

Re: Vaccination protocol

I know on the rabies vaccine, it says 3 years on the label. I think that it could stay in their system depending on what type of dog, how big of a dog, how healthy, yadda yadda. Let's just say you have a great dane and you're giving about 1 ml or so (which it's the same amount for every dog no matte...

Re: Partially deaf???

...but I can't use a clicker with a deaf dog.., Sure ya can! A clicker is just a behavior marker, it doesn't have to be a noise. I use a thumbs up instead of a clicker, which I like better anyway since I can't ever accidentally leave my thumb at home ;) Oh yea like a little marker of some sort.

Re: Partially deaf???

I don't think the clinic I work at has that type of technology yet. The man that owns the dang thing (and refuses to retire) is in his 80's. I've read about it but heard it could be kind of pricey and my working minimum wage isn't going to cut it. Just to be safe, I'm probably going to train him li...

Re: Partially deaf???

Quite possibly :) I don't frequent this forum as much as I used to, but I poke around from time to time. I am extremely well aquatinted to raising, training, and living with deaf dogs. If you've got specific questions, I'd be happy to chime in with some advice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Th...

Re: Partially deaf???

Has he been BAER tested? This is the best way to determine if he is able to hear or not. Many clinics have a simple screening test which will determine yes he can hear or no he cannot (my clinic does this) but universities and specialty centers will have more advanced testing for the in-betweeners....

Re: Partially deaf???

Is he all white on his head and ears? Almost all white head and ear foster dogs I've had come thru have been deaf. We have a few deaf kidos on here, and tons of info on them and training. Member named Stormi is a great one I can think of. Can you try searching some of her posts/topics? Sent from my...

Partially deaf???

Alright, so here it goes...this here little guy I noticed has a tad bit of a listening problem. At first I thought it was hard headedness but then I realized these little signs that could mean he could actually be deaf...or partially deaf. When he is asleep in his crate, he won't react to noises unl...

Re: Does That Tickle or What??

Oh my goodness! Haha she sounds like a goofball. My border collie corgie does that same thing. She will throw me the cold shoulder if I don't pay any attention to her too. She's a little princess I tell ya. The puppies always want attention of course.

Re: LEGO: From prepared to paranoid...

I'm working on the pulling thing too. What I found that worked best for me (although it is a very slow process haha) is slowly introducing more and more distractions. For example, start walking on the leash in the house, then your back yard, then your front yard, then the road in front of your house...
