Re: IMHA and ITP

My friend Liz almost lost her bitch Emma to IMHA. It took a lot of care. I'm not sure how much of it she's posted publically but I can ask.

Good luck!

Re: Rabbit?

If you are looking to add calories and such for a skinny dog - rabbit's pretty low in fat. I know that I couldn't feed it to my competition dogs regularly since they need some fat in their diet. Also, out of 5 dogs - only 1 likes rabbit. I have a friend who tried rabbit with 4 dogs and only one like...

Re: any remedy for salt water ingestion?

I just fast, let them drink and let them have access to a place where they can spray water out of their butt.

So if the weather's nice - she could hang outside for a while...

Giant pearl necklace and a series of photos of her "just being good" while wearing it. Maybe a video to "She's a lady" or another song about what a lady she is? "The Nicest Girl on the Block" Betsy calls to mind vintage 1950's and maybe girl scouts so a sash with her Ba...

Re: raw pork liver

Not to contradict MissKiwi (who is current on knowing her medical stuff  ) - but I DO feed raw pork and it's organs with minimal concerns - had to think a minute about feeding the brain, tho... eww-LOL (no pun intended) I'm not super worried about AMERICAN-grown pork but I also can't alwa...

Re: raw pork liver

If your dog is sued to chicken liver, pork will be just fine. Too much can (and most of the time will) cause diarrhea so don't give them more than they are used to eating.

Re: Joint supplements homework, please?

Char - Our vet just recommended this to us as well. Franny's first day was Friday PM. We'll have to compare results. He also liked what we were doing nutritionally and her weight/exercise schedule. Maybe because we're going to the same place? ;) I have been meaning to thank you for the recommendati...

Re: Joint supplements homework, please?

At the recommendation of our acupuncturist, we are trying a different supplement for Molly right now. It is formulated for humans but this company does make veterinary supplements as well for small animals (dogs/cats) and horses. Re: Joint supplements homework, please?

Question: Scarlett is eating Diamond Naturals dry food and it says on the bag that it has Glucosamine and Chondroitin in it. Should we still be giving her a supplement beyond what she is getting in this? Yes. That's more like a marketing ploy to make people feel better. The amount and bioavailablit...

Re: Did we over do it with the exercise? Pittie in pain!

Oh, ouch middle aged lady! We too have an 8 year old girl that loves to go. Swimming's acutally a great low impact exercise and we have been working with our girl to get her to have a more enjoyable time swimming. Here's how we're keeping her healthy: 1) Nice quality joint supplements. The amount in...

Re: Heart Murmer questions

Our oldest has a grade 2-3 murmur due to an arotic stenosis. She's also a very popular flyball dog. Our cardiologist prescribed some supplements, keeping her thin and regular strenuous exercise.

I'm sure that your cardiologist will be able to answer all of your questions! good luck.

I don't require them to "walk it out" but we do have some quiet time in the yard afterward. I like to see any heavy respiration back down and have them enjoy fee time in the yard.

The ice/ice cream/yogurt thing has be totally scratching my head. I've never heard that one at all.

Re: Thinkin' bout switchin' from Evo to Orijen

it is funny to me how skeptical we are with anything that seems under priced or "too cheap", i do the same thing when i go to eat somewhere and the prices are so low :) curious, is the high protein in EVO the only reason you're not a fan of it? thanks Actually, yes. Studies in working dog...
