Re: Seeking in MD area- any breed

It looks like the Washington Animal Rescue League might have some options for her--maybe Bumpkin the Beagle?

Re: Reputable Arkansas Rescues/Adoptions? Parents interested!

That's great that your parents are pitbull converts. I don't know if this is too far away for you, but I have heard good things about Missouri Pit Bull Rescue: http://mprgroup.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Might be worth the drive. Hopefully other people will chime in with Arka...

Re: Breeders

Unless you are planning to show your new dog and/or compete for working titles, most people on here will recommend that you get a rescue. But with pit bulls, you can truly get any look/type/personality you want, as there are so very many pits in shelters and rescues. It can take some looking, if you...

Sounds like you are getting some excellent advice. You are doing a great thing in responsibly rescuing and rehoming a dog--it takes a lot of work! As others have said, definitely get her spayed before adopting her out. I think it's wonderful that you made a personal website for her--it will be reall...

Re: Adoption Application References

I hope some experienced folks respond to your post. Since no one has yet, I'll tell you what we did in your situation, although we aren't experienced doing adoptions. When I spoke to the personal references, I basically tried to get a sense of the potential adopter's world--their schedule, their soc...

Re: Rescue NC!

I'm hoping the rescue person and the lady with all the dogs are two separate people? And that "she" is the rescued dog?

Good luck with her! She is a cutie and I'm glad you're holding out for a really good owner. Sounds like you've done a great job preparing her for adoption.

Check out Adopt-a-Homeless-Animal (AAHA) in Baltimore. We fostered for them and think they are an excellent, responsible rescue. You could try foster-to-adopt to make sure the dog is a good match for you. Check out Lady on their petfinder list, she might have the qualities you're looking for. http:/...

I have fostered for http://www.strayfromtheheart.org in NYC, and they always have pit bulls. Don't know how close you are to NYC, but they definitely do foster-to-adopt, so that you could try out a dog with your pack. It sounds like you'll need to do that regardless, since I don't think a lot of res...

Good luck with Pepito! He is really cute. There is plenty of information out there re switching insurance carriers if you need to do that. Be sure to look into that issue carefully. The sites Maryellen recommended are really good. Take some time to read through them...maybe start with BadRap, they h...
