so the legal day of adoption is the day they will be PTS? If so apparently the first coupl are out of time :crybaby: yes, it's true :frown: sometimes the ACO, Sherry (I believe that's her name) will try to keep the dogs as long as possible (past their dates). Yes, the Legal Day is the day that the ...

Well the first and third pups I listed have been adopted! Still leaves a lot more... ALL pit bulls/mixes except for one lone chi. That's what we mostly seem to get at the Hartford Pound - pit bulls and chis. http://www.hartforddogpound.com/files/422.jpg http://www.hartforddogpound.com/files/47.jpg h...

Ugh...more pit bulls than ever in Hartford!

Hey all...it's an epidemic. 3-4 day old puppies don't have happy tail, though.

Of course there are legitimate medical reasons to remove the tail or ears...or leg or eye, for that matter. Those should be the only reasons the procedure is done...cosmetic reasons should not come into play whatsoever, IMO.

I see nothing wrong with doing good tail docks on dogs whose breed calls for it. Lizzie, the alternative is people take them home and band the tail, so it falls off as it dies. VERY painful for the dog . Actually, that is not the only alternative...there another: don't do it. :) I know there are tw...

Am I mistaken? I just read that you're doing tail docking...even without anesthesia on small puppies. I think that's horrifying and I don't really understand why you'd be hesitating to do cropping when you're fine with docking tails...? Just because the puppies are younger doesn't mean they feel les...

I'm just curious if its a service thats needed or if its a service that should just disappear. IMO it's a service that should just disappear. But to be fair, it would need to disappear from the requirements of conformation showing as well...which I hope it does. Although, I'm willing to bet that 99...

Yup. That first year is expensive! (Yet another reason not to breed) The only thing I see is that the bordetella vax is optional if you don't plan to board your dog.

He was on Rimadyl. It worked great, but it's bad for long-term. We did swimming with JJ, too...we were fortunate to have a friend with an inground pool who let us use it for his physical therapy. I understand what you're going through. JJ was very young, too (2 years old) which is why we opted for s...

Well, I went through this with my 2-year-old dog JJ. First let me say that it's great to do a ton of research and get second and even third opinions from vets and do what is right for your family. That being said, JJ didn't make it. He was a big guy at about 115 lbs, and he had severe hip dysplasia ...

Urgent neglect pups at Hartford Dog Pound!

As usual, we have bunches of pit bulls at the Hartford Dog Pound. You can see them all on the website at http://www.hartforddogpound.com/available.html This sweet girl was seized after being found chained to a makeshift dog with a heavy tow chain in the heat and humidity with no food or water. The p...
