Ugh Yeah

I lock the dog up from going outside until she is fully dried off. Bath = HUGE ZOOMIES.

I do get into a good game of Tug with her though to help her relax. I think it is both drying off and getting that earthy scent back on. Maybe try a shampoo that doesnt smell like a perfumery!

I stop for the session

I always stop for the session on a HIGH NOTE. Perhaps you may want to reconsider your session goals. It sounds to me like your expectations for the session are too high. My "Training Sessions" are brief -10-20minutes, I have specific goals that I work toward with each one, and will end on ...

Never too late to crate

It is never too late to crate, SADIE has finally accepted that the crate is HERS and not a kennle. Read up on introducing dogs to crating, I know for us we would crate her while cleaning the house or watching tv NO TALKING or encouraging of the dog and would let her out after 10 minutes of no whinni...

I lucked out

Sadie picked up to being 100% potty trained in two weeks, including letting herself out the doggy door. What worked for me is I monitored her food and water intake, after every meal I immiedatly took her outside and said go potty, if she did not go I would take her back inside and watch her for roam...

Excellent Points from all

Thanks guys I have been working her harder this week and really making her work to play. IE no free toys, no toys lying around, must sit and be calm before play time. I think this problem is stemming from not having excersise that weekend and the toy lying down and no one wanting to play so she was ...

Read Sticky

There is a sticky that is titled "So you got a Mouthy Puppy" this is an EXCELLENT article and should be re-read. Mouthieness in a pup is a great educator, they are exploring thier world with thier mouth and NOW is the time to instill in the DOG just how sensative our human flesh is. :peace:

Oh the days when I had to create intrest in toyz

Are long behind me now. My new issue is telling Sadie NOT NOW! When Sadie was a pup I would put Penut butter on the new toys to get them in her mouth. Throw it and praise her for going after it or just putting it in her mouth. I went through several different types of toys until I found some that tu...

I would much rather break up two bully dogs then two curs

I would much rather break up two bully dogs then two curs. The Curs will slash and lash out, where bully's will tend to latch on and take it down. Rember bullies use to be culled for biting at people when fighting so for the most part it is against thier nature to re-direct. Do some searching on bre...

I just dont feel that this is directing the behavior

To me this is a work around - will the dog gaurd maybe not. However, to me there is a trust factor and a leadership factor that I would address. This is why i suggested that you open up the crate and get a relax on your dog then offer them the bone and keep your hand on the bottom while they are goi...
