Oh my goodness. Don't quote me on this, but I just bought a house, and Cash needs a sister. Now, to think of a way to drive from TX to IL and back and smuggle in another dog without the wife catching on...

i would almost feel bad about coming to classes. Cash is an easily distracted vibrating spaz. But I should try.

They are in my area (houston). Do I just wait until Feb for the seminars or are there regular classes taught somewhere (i.e. Houston Obedience Club)?

It is dog aggression. It is part of the breed. It is not a bad thing. It is simply a fact. The vast majority of bully breeds really can't handle a dog park, too much energy and excitement + natural tendency to want to rumble with other dogs = bad things. A bully is better served by walks and work. H...

Cash was neutered at 9 weeks and still humps toys (if he's frustrated/bored) and tries to mount other dogs at the park. He's getting better about that, as i am never more than 15 feet away and he goes to a timeout if he mounts.

So if Cash is 8 months and 54lbs, what's a good weight to put in a backpack? He's gotten into really good shape, to the point where I can't really tire him out even with park time, frisbee, and long walks. Should i hold off the backpack idea completely for a while?

Before proceeding with anymore jumping, i will have him checked out by my vet. he is a big boy for ten months, already weighing in at 60lbs. He does have a big sway in his rear when he walks, and when he runs i have noticed at times his back legs kick out to his left side. Is the sway and kicking o...

Cash is currently 6 months old, and a frisbee fiend, in short spurts. He gets very easily distracted, being in the height of puppy retardation. Cash has a high prey drive, so chasing and grabbing stuff is something he has always been intensely interested in. He's a beast at jumping as high as possib...

if you subtract the jabbing "MY HAND IS DE MOUTH, MY FINGAS DE TEETH" corrections, the constant alpha rolling and the crazily overdone leash corrections, the show is pretty good. Being calm and assertive does a lot, and just having "dominant" (more like confident, really) posture...

When something freaks my pup out, I just sort of say "Hey, chill out." Not especially sternly or forcefully, but very matter-of-fact. He's not really afraid of things any more (sometimes to his discomfort, i.e. "hey, what's that loud thing? a leafblower? Oh snap, i have to check it ou...

Cash's hackles stick straight up whenever he is involved in a chase game at the dog park. Especially the chase games that don't involve a whole lot of sprinting, but are mostly play bows, feints and drive-bys.

Cash does this. In his mind, here is what is happening. Cash: Hey pop, check out what i got. A pair of mom's underwear that i found! Pretty neat, huh? Me: Oh hell, Cash, you know you can't eat that. Cash: Pfft. Try and stop me. Me: Gimme that. Cash: WEEE GONNA HAVE TO CATCH ME! BEST GAME EVER! Me: I...

Bought some RMBs for Cash today. He is totally disinterested in them. I know he's hungry, but he just kinda looks at them, sniffs at them, then walks away. It's a thawed buffalo shank. He's only 5.5 months old, 45lbs, is the bone maybe too big for him and therefore intimidating? I've also got some r...

Houston, TX

I haven't been there yet, but Bones2go looks like a great place to get BARF supplies. Gonna head there tomorrow to hopefully get some RMBs for Cash to gnaw on.

Absolutely. Midtown is the area south of Montrose. I live across the street from Brennan's and Late Night Pizza.
