honestly, i think it's a "know your dog" thing. there's not one set way for everyone.

thanksgiving was a month ago for me (i'm in canada, we're wierd). i specifically went out the day after it was all over so that i could buy cheap turkey JUST for the dog. for that one week it was cheaper for me to feed turkey than chicken, and maggie loves turkey (and chicken, and pork, and deer, an...

well i can't vote on the poll, because technically i do feed weight bearing bones, but only chicken. they support such a small ammount of weight, which makes them softer, and (in my opinion) totally 100% edible. therefore, i don't count chicken legs as "weight bearing bones". other weight ...

well if you're worried about the dog ripping up and eating the kong (and RedNoseErnie i'm impressed with your dog!!) then definately go for the edible chews.

pigs feet are awesome. the skin is thick and gives the dog a good challenge, plus they're totally edible.

i've found that the two best things to occupy a chewer are bully sticks and frozen stuffed kongs.

i agree, raw is better.
if emma won't eat the organs raw, try freezing them. my little primadonna won't touch liver raw and squidgy, but she looooves it frozen!

i freeze my game meat just for peace of mind. the main thing people worry about is CWD (chronic wasting disease). i believe it's transferrable to people and cats, but not dogs. however, if it worries you, just don't feed the brain, spine, neck, or tail. maggie looooves deer! http://i139.photobucket....

I hope you're not feeding your dog raw salmon, unless you're freezing it for a couple months first? And dogs don't need liver. They generally like liver, but remember that liver is one of the organs that filters toxins from the body. I'd go light on feeding liver. all my salmon is frozen for 8 week...

i generally try to feed 80/10/10 80% meat, 10% bone, 10%organs (half of which is liver). do i weigh anything? no. if the dog's happy, wieghts fine, and poops are normal, then all is good. if maggie's having a hard time pooping, then she gets less bone and more meat/organ. if she's sh1tting throught ...

when my dog looks healthy, when her teeth are clean, when she's excited for dinner, when her breath doesn't smell, when her coat's nice and shiney, when she's not riddled with allergies... THAT'S when i stopped listening to the "omg you feed your dog WHAT?!" i must admit, i was hesitant at...
