HOw do you make them? i buy hammer handles (good hard wood) and plane them down so that they're tapered on one end. sand them so they're nice n smooth, drill a hole in the 'handle' end, tie some pretty ribbon through it so that you can hang it up, and voila! embarassingly, i don't currently own a break stick, and yet i make them for my local pit bull rescue group for fundraisers. :oops: they're pretty simple to make, and they're hard to get up here in canada because no one ships them up here due to them being "dog fighting parephenalia" i HAD ...

i found some in my local pet store (they sell all sorts of 'strange' stuff lol). i was going to buy one, but decided against it because they seemed REALLY hard. do they soften up when the dog chews them, or could they be potential tooth breakers like the big hard marrow bones? i've never bought them...

when maggie was on kibble, she'd inhale it. now that she's on raw, she chews. she has to! i agree with the other posters tho, the bowl with the obstructions in it make dogs slow down. or you could put something in the bowl that the dog needs to eat around. i used to toss a lacrosse ball in the bowl ...

i make fleece tug toys.
i get fleece by the yard at the fabric store, cut a few strips off it, braid it, and voila! the fleece is suprisingly resilient.
