Re: TPLO SUCCESS STORIES

I know of no dogs, personally, who have made a full recovery after TPLO with no subsequent bilateral CCL compromise. not sure what you mean by this. you mean when one knee is fixed and the other knee is fine? :dunno: when one knee goes, and is repaired, i think there's something like a 75% chance t...

Re: RAW feeding couple questions

it took my dog a while to adjust to pork, but as long as she gets some edible bone with it she's fine now. or i just give her a pork hock and expect a bit of tap-ass the next day. no biggie. even if your boy gets a bit of the runs from it, don't be shocked, and don't give up on it! beef took a lot l...

Re: RAW feeding couple questions

holding off on the organ meat was a good idea. and yes, when you introduce it, start SMALL. seriously, small. i know some dogs get ''organ meals' a day or two every week, but there's no way in hell that would work for my sensitive tummy dog. she gets a very small cube of frozen liver and another org...

Re: Questions to ask about ACL surgery

Sorry to DP, but has anyone also done physical therapy with their dog after having the CCL surgery? There is a local office that has a water treadmill and a pool for the dogs to use, also other things to help the healing processes. I'm going to look more into it because I know teaching him how to u...

Re: What do you look for in a rescue....

Just another quick question would be how much extra work goes into training a deaf or blind dog? I am thinking we would really like to adopt a special needs dog. i had a deaf dog, and i LOVED it. it was acctually quite an adjustment to get used to having a dog that could hear me. ie: i open the fri...

Re: Raw venison??

yeah, i usually toss down some old blankets/towels, but i've also found that vinyl shower curtains work fairly well. unfortunately, my dog is quite an... 'animated' eater. lol she likes to grab, tear, move, brace... it's ridiculous. she must have flipped over that giant rack of moose ribs a dozen ti...

Re: Raw venison??

dam i wish i had a yard! that would make things sooo much easier. having a condo with carpet SUCKS. i'm thinking about getting some plywood or a large end scrap of linoleum to lay down in one area just to make clean-up easier.

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Khan is allergic to chicken, while I do plan to try chicken later in the game I think I am going to start with beef. Any suggestions on actual cuts of beef? Would anyone suggest I start with something else? i'd start with pork. some pork bones are soft enough to be edible, but i haven't found any b...

Re: Raw venison??

Can someone tell me what parts would be "good" to ask for. I'm guessing all organs, but I am not sure about the rest. Since if I get some I am hoping to get it cut into sections small enough to feed or at least put in the freezer. I'm assuming no weight bearing bones because deer's are bi...

Re: Raw venison??

this year has been AMAZING for deer. i made friends with a local game cutter (well, local = 1hr drive) and had to buy a new freezer! after filling it, and filling my smaller apartment sized freezer, i've totalled over 600lbs of meat/bones for the dog. almost 200lbs of that is just trim! last year i ...
