Re: pea sized lump

just got a call from the vet. results are in! lump is/was a low grade 2 mast cell tumor, removed with clean margins. she said this is the most common, and it's unlikely to spread. i have to keep an eye out in the future to see if any more pop up, but she was pretty optimistic that there's enough oth...

Re: pea sized lump

the incision is looking good. the shaved spot is kinda slimming, it makes her look like she's got more of a tuck than she acctually does. it's a bit like wearing vertical stripes to look thinner lol

Re: pea sized lump

well, she kept me up most of the night fidgeting, but she seemed fine this morning.
much better than me! that lack of sleep didn't do me any favours, and i had to be at work by 7am today.
left mags at home, coned. she'll sleep all day on the couch.
hmm... something doesn't seem fair here lol

Re: pea sized lump

we'll probably get the results next week. for now she's doped up, sleepy, sore, and reeeally needy. i parked her in front of the fireplace, but she was fidgety. so i lifted her up on the couch with me. to add insult to injury, i'm fighting the revenge of some stomach bug. i thought i was over it thi...

Re: pea sized lump

Best thoughts for the poor girl, she must be a pro at surgery now! thanks. unfortunately, yes, she's a pro at surgery. not really a skill i wanted her to develop lol i just talked to the vet. apparently all went well. sample's being sent off to the lab, maggie's still groggy, so i'll be picking her...

Re: pea sized lump

dropped maggie off this morning. she was happy as all hell to be there and get some attention from the tech. if she's doing well under sedation, they're going to xray her while she's under. she hasn't had xrays since her last knee surgery (almost a year ago), so i'd like to see how things are healin...

Re: Joint Supplements

i use recovery SA extra strength on my dog (she's had 4 knee surgeries, and isn't very well built. she needs the extra strength!)
it was recommended to me by my vet, and it really makes a difference :)

Re: Xpen questions

I don't think plexi-glass is the way to go. It think a cordura curtain that clips to the top and bottom of the pen like a second wall and can be folded up with the x-pen would be both durable and light and offer 100% coverage. The 48" + height would be my personal choice. we're looking into a ...

Re: pea sized lump

FOUR!?!?! holy crap! yeah, 3 on one knee, 1 on the other. it's been a loooong road. but she's my dog, my responsibility, so i'll do what i can to fix her when she's broken. Having found 2 of these little buggers has just reinforced my belief that keeping our dogs thin is a great thing. We found the...

Re: pea sized lump

thanks for the good thoughts. i've known a few dogs lately that have had cancer, so i'm always looking for lumps n bumps. thankfully, that's not too hard with a short haired lap dog lol I'd set up a quiet x-pen area for her to recovery. We had to cut Fran off of the pain meds after a few days becaus...
