Teaching Older Dog to Pee on Balcony?

Hi there. Winter is coming along, and I would like to teach my 8 year old girl to use the balcony as a bathroom, so that she would be able to go 'out' early in the morning, and I wouldn't have to get dressed for the upcoming -30 degree weather. She would, of course, have regular walks in the afterno...

Re: Lost of Appetite

I came upon this topic by doing a search, because I have the exact problem with my girl at this point. She's 8 years old. I visit the vet with her on a regular basis for checkups and yearly wellness testing. Her weight is fine. Recently she has lost her appetite. I rotate her food regularly, because...

Ok thank you..will look into that!

I also heard a lot about adding a bit of garlic to food and apple cidar vinegar to the dog's water...

I also sprayed the whole house with lavendar water, as I heard most bugs, including fleas, hate the smell. Any experience with these methods?

By some vets I'm told that you won't find any traces of infection (heartworm) until about 6 months after the bite...then I hear that it only takes about one month. So honestly, how long does it take...maybe I need to switch my vet because I'm not getting any answers that this particular clinic, and ...

Heartworm Med - Shorter Life Span?

Does anyone know if there have been any studies that show whether or not heartworm medication shorten a dog's life span or effect the dog's health in any way in the long term?

By Ivermectin, do you mean there is a brand called Ivermectin? Because I know heartgard has Ivermectin as its main ingredient as well. Does that mean heartgard actually covers for 4-6 months as well? I get so many different answers from the different vet clinics that I call for information. One vet ...

I'm in the north east USA and there are a lot of heartworm cases around here. I've seen what heartworms can do to a dog so I am careful to keep her on the preventative. And I use Ivermectin 1% from the feed store, I give it every 45 days since there is no need to dose every 30 days. The 30 days is ...

thank you very much guys. I have no problem with marking 45 days on my calendar..if you think about it, its smarter and friendlier for the dog too..it could mean a difference between 4 or 6 doses for the entire season..that's alot less chemicals to use, no? Anyways, thank you, I feel better :) :bowd...

concreterose, does that go for every single heartworm med?

Also, if she was, for example, infected earlier this season, is it dangerous to give her heartworm meds now?
I'm not really that concerned about it because, like I said, its low risk but still just to be on the sure side.
