YOUCH. this is NOT good news. We have seen this time and agin, like a bad late night info-mercial. It keeps coming back to the same story. If history is any indicator, probability states: the rescue is not breed savvy, won't abort, will use mediocre placement practices, may or may not s/n before pla...

Arlo continues to improve, thank goodness. It was really difficult for awhile there. it looks pretty clean now, although peering into his muscular structure via the drain peep hole isn't exactly comforting. I continue to soak it 4-5 times a day with salt water, adn did get some Novasan that I flush ...

thnaks everyone. yes, the big guy is feeling quite well now! the vet was pretty confident that the increase in gunk was a reaction to the drain itself and so far this has appeared accurate. It was removed this morning and all seems well (keep your fingers crossed I sure don''t want it re-installed)....

Hey Red! it is latex and positioned to allow gravity to assist in the draining. I increased his incentive to peanut butter and that certainly seems to make treatments more palatable to him. :)) It has been really nice to hear from all of you.

It was super deep, and a lot was removed - drainage is good and don't panic. will report back. misskiwi67 can I email you a picture of it? (sorry gore-hounds, not sure if I have the energy to get it posted somewher...

I'm beginning to think that the whole "no touch" principle woul dhave been a good one. I went with a quick rinse, no squeeze and sent him along with a cookie. Yes it will be interesting to hear what the vet ahs to say, it was a tech that advised me to squeeze, eek. I realized I also forgot...

thank you for the response. what an icky story. Of course I forgot the part about why I feel so bad, there was no MCT there. I just keep telling myself that I made the decision to cut wide margins from a "good place" of avoiding a repeat surgery but alas, I'm still bummed out. I try and th...

drains and wound care

So i did a search and can't find exactly what I'm looking for. Mostly I just feel incredibly badly for subjecting my baby Arlo to such things. the history Arlo has a history of Mast Cell Cancer dating back over 5 years (grade 2 lumps traditionally). Of the available treatment options, one cla...

HHK- do you have an update on this pretty girl? I know you don't visit here often but I am headed your way next week and would love to pick your brain a bit about that shelter.

I had to have a good loud blubber over this dog and this situation. It's just all so f-ked up. us too. dammit. As for this belief: Had she been identified as Galaxy Kennel's dog, I'm fairly certain she would have gotten her immediately. Unfortunately I don't share your confidence. this is after all...
