Ok, I have a question. It seems as though my dog is having an allergy to the food she's eating. I know it's a bad choice, but she's terribly picky and I've tried a few different brands of "good" food, but she won't touch it - even after days! Tried Wellness (both the lamb one and the white...

Wow, never heard of that. I have an appt. for Mika's annual check-up next week. I'll have to ask my vet about it and see what she has for info.

nice bump - just in time for prime tick season. I haven't posted on here in AGES, life and work have been super busy, but I see there is someone from Union - that's right next to me! So, Hi. :) I still use Advantix K9, I think it's great stuff. Mika never has ticks attached anymore, like she did wit...

Thank you both so much. Brutus's Mommy - what kind of green poles are you talking about? Do you think it's feasable to extend the fence with the same material - the black coated chain link? I will be on the phone with AC tomorrow. Their office is closed right now and from past experience, it's bette...

Question about my fence

When Mika was a puppy, I enclosed my backyard with a 5' black vinyl coded chain link fence. My fenced in yard area is just under an acre of land. A little background: We do not leave her outside unattended. We can not see any neighbors from our house, we're pretty spaced out and we're in the country...

Foster Home Needed

Hi all - I haven't posted on here in forever! I received this email today from a fellow volunteer at the rescue I help out at...I would like to post it here in case anyone is in the area and would be willing to help. Feel free to cross-post: I received a distressing email last night from a woman who...

I didn't realize Advantix was so bad for cats, even after it's applied to the dog. I don't have any cats, so I don't have to worry, but it's good info to pass around. My vet didn't mention that to me when I switched from Frontline Plus to Advantix K9.

I used Frontline for the past 4 years. Ticks would still come in on Mika and I would find dead ticks all over - mostly on my bed...EW! I JUST switched to Advantix, it not only kills ticks, but actually repells them as well. I've been outside playing with Mika and I come in with ticks on me, but Mika...

Mika's never shown any syptoms of Lyme, but could very well have it I suppose. I've pulled so many ticks off of her over the years. I'll have to call the vet and see if they'll test before administering the vaccine. I'm going to see about that - I don't know if the vaccine would harm her if she does...

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but what is lepto? It's a bacterial disease that dogs can get from drinking out of contaminated puddles. Thanks. I looked at Mika's last physical and she did receive a Lepto Vax 4 shot. I think the pro's outweigh the con's for the Lyme Vaccine. I'm hoping to hav...

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but what is lepto? I read the articles. One of them was from 2001, though it was informative. Lyme disease has a pretty high rate amongst both humans and dogs here. Like I said, my sister's dog has it and her symptoms pop up all the time, it's something I don't w...

I appreciate your responses. I hate when stories circulate about things like this. I never know whether to believe them or not. There are a lot of ticks around here - plenty of deer ticks, too. I don't want Mika to end up with Lyme Disease because I didn't vaccinate, you know?

Lyme vaccine...opinions PLEASE

I did a search, but only found a couple of threads and not very many responses in them. My vet keeps pushing the Lyme Vaccine. I live in CT and there are a lot of deer ticks, plenty of human and dog cases of Lyme here. My sister's dog has Lyme and her symptoms reoccur often. I don't want Mika to get...
