I'm not sure that we do have the same goal in mind, unless I misunderstand our respective goals. Probably. Misunderstandings are endemic with message boards and they've become a really bad place to discuss anything of substance, especially when our breed is in such dire straits. The splat of misinf...

Yes, the bill always had problems with working stock dogs, and we're grateful to the working dog folks who offered assistance for language improvements. The authors did listen to many - law enforcement, service dogs are safer now after new amendments - and they listened and raised the age of mandato...

Thanks Tina. I'm always amazed how tongues wag on the net. To confirm what was said, we pulled our support because the bill was getting WAY too messy, it was losing its original intent with every amendment, and the authors ignored our recommendations for - specifically - better language that would'v...

I just love it when shelters are proud of themselves that they are "able to pick the good ones" I get extra fuzzy inside when we say yes to the dog and they start beaming!!

Beautiful! :headbang: Thank you for being there to say 'Yes' to them.

That dog is adorable, btw.

If AB 1634 passes, though, all spay/neuter programs in California become government programs. And Maddie's Fund won't pick up the tab for goverment-mandated spay/neuter. Gotcha. Well, yay PetSmart Charities. (It's exceedingly hard to get money from Maddies, btw, but a number of other big bank roll ...

Here ya go, Sheeple. Her x-rays came out okay. Her hips are slightly dysplastic, but because of her little size and lotsa muscle, our vet doesn't expect it to cause her a problem. She's pretty darn unsocialized to the world at large. EVERYthing is a new experience for this little one. Laps? Wow! htt...

Very true. The overpopulation problem has been chopped to bits wherever the community decides to push hard for s/n. But Maddies should know better than to talk about withholding funds in areas with all-breed leg (does that mean they won't help overflowing Sacramento now?) while turning a blind eye t...

Since our inception, Maddie's Fund has had a policy of not funding government mandated programs. As stated on our website, "This policy applies to mandatory spay/neuter laws, as well as to other requirements imposed by federal, state and local legislation." Interesting. Yet Maddies Fund i...

I was judging Mike Vick, addybaby.

It's nice to know that they're still working on improvements.

How are you involved in this project?

Lil'Bit

I thought I'd post this girlie here since she's a dog for old world pit bull lovers. She's one of the tinies at about 38lbs. About 2 years old and doing well with all our dogs over here. Plays nice, respects the matriarchs, backs down to dog corrections and ignores dogs on leash. She's been a very e...

It is. And to think, the bully people actually had a golden opportunity to prove that they could be 'different' and keep their dogs out of trouble. But they're just following in the same old footsteps. Bleh!

Summer's bringing more unwanted hippos to our shelters. This boy was having a hard time breathing in the heat. Funny crossed eyes, not as people-connected as his full breed pit bull cousins. Sigh. :frown: But I'm sure he fetched a good price for some happy elite dude. http://www.badrap.org/rescue/im...
