A hardly likely scenario in a shelter such as he occupied in sf bay area where high proportions of noisy pit mixes either intimidate new adopters or create a bunker atmosphere of chaotic incredulity. A little more background on the Berkeley Shelter might be in order: The Humane Commission of Berkel...

What qualifies as a Razor's Edge dog? One that has a full RE ped or a half RE ped?

I'd like to see the answer to this question too, since it does come up a lot with the pedigreed shelter dogs that come in.

Yes Deanna, we did work with you to find a home for your shelter pick, Rosie. A Sonoma Shelter dog if I remember right. And she is a wonderful dog. And you did send BR money when you could. Which was nice. But to conclude this thread, so Rachel doesn't have to moderate a melt down lol It seems that,...

The question, Dave and Deanna, is this: Now that the bully style of dog is - predictably - hitting the shelters in larger numbers, who should rescue them? I really like Firkin and his kin, but he's not a pit bull. Promoting the American Bully in a pit bull rescue is a bit of a lie, and frankly, if w...

but if you need me to help this girl - I will open my car door for her and if she comes in, I will take her. If I have to chase her down, I will take her to the nearest bully friendly shelter...." Boy, does that sound familiar. :) Thanks for being there for her. If you need any help to pay for...

Well, since Dave IS pimping this new breed pretty hard, I wonder if he'd set up a fund to fly homeless hippos back east to live on a happy hippo farm with him and the crew. That way, pit bull rescuers can stay true to our own breed and help with the transport of little mutants at the same time. Not ...

Lessons with Hippos

It’s been very ‘interesting,’ but we finally found the right home for Firkin. Thanks again for the perfect name X-girl. Now the problem, since Dave announced that hippos aren’t really pit bulls, and since they’re starting to show up the shelters, what to do? Do we save space for the occasional hippo...

You guys are no help whatsoever! lol Okay - Deal is, I'm declining Smelly Guy because he's starting to get a little weird on me and very pushy about getting his hands on my dog. The Stank is just a symptom of a larger problem - This guy is totally clueless about how he impacts people. And for a pit ...

Smelly Guy

Here's a new one for the record books.... A very nice dude is incredibly excited to adopt one of our dogs -- Well spoken, considerate, motivated guy. Slightly weird in an arty way. The only problem is, he STINKS. Like, really really bad smell. Not that I'm a soap-snob; I actually like a good gamey s...

How about someone at the university? (Guelph?) They're supposed to be open minded and un-jaded there, right?

it costs us over $200 to PTS a dog, Holy moly. And a shot of the blue juice literally costs shelters $1 or so. I guess they're charging big for staff time, sedative + disposal? Maybe you can magic in a vet who feels as strongly as you do about final dignity. Or convince someone at the shelter to wo...

Well of course you're from 9 & Gratiot -- It's the center of the Universe after all! lol I'm glad to know the big ED has a pit bull advocate in its corners and that Mr. Brindle lucked into your sister's yard. Lots of serendipity!

If I hear of anyone back home that wants a nice dog, I'll holler.

Hey silverpearl. Greetings from a fellow East Detroiter (I lived at 9 and Gratiot for years). One suggestion - Becasue the boy is well taken care of, you might want to extend your found notices to the local papers. Also, see if your sis can put a notice in local schools - East Detroit High, Oakwood ...
