Re: Group socialization near Pasadena CA

Thanks - it was very nice meeting you. It was hard to talk while keeping 3 eyes peeled for all of the dogs! She puked and then drank a lot of water and now is sunning herself. I regret forgetting my camera!! Did you any video by chance of Ruby yelling at the waves? Amber is darling and so well manne...

any remedy for salt water ingestion?

So I went to the dog beach for the first time (kept Ruby on lead) - and I think we found her new calling! She turned into a barking-grumbling-whining fiend for the waves!! I had no idea I had such a water gremlin! (hopefully ursaminor here got some video of that - I was amazed!) But........... withi...

Re: Dominating, non-affectionate puppy?

To me (with no experience with puppies) it sounds like bite inhibition - if you already have him at less than 8 weeks its possible that he missed some socialization and mama-taught inhibitions.... give him time and patience and repetition/consistency and I bet you guys will end up OK. I forgot how y...

Re: Dominating, non-affectionate puppy?

My dog didn't expose her belly for YEARS ... now, she goes belly up for scratches but that took 4 or 5 years for her to get there and she was one that was great 'out of the box' from the shelter....

Re: when to worm for tapeworms?

Thanks for that, RG. It ended up being 3 rats so I figured the chances were higher but I also sort of figured that unlike other basic worms, you do have to wait to see the evidence < the thought of that was just creeping me out, I guess. don't think the DE can hurt, so I think I'll continue with tha...

Re: when to worm for tapeworms?

Aack - just got another one! I'm afraid to get a petsmart wormer since it duplicates much of what's in the heartworm+ Trifexis that I use but I think I'll feed her some diatomaceous earth daily for a week or two - I use that once or twice a week as it is, so we'll see....

when to worm for tapeworms?

Ruby has this week gotten hold of a couple of baby/young rats ... yuk - chewed them flat and wet but did not eat. I have never wormed her for tapes tho I currently use Trifexis for other worms. Should I preemptively get some tapeworm stuff or wait to see evidence of a telltale infestation? She gets ...

Re: bedroom help

Agreed! We do different types of exercise -- sometimes on leash and structured, sometimes I use a backpack, sometimes we do off leash trail walks, sometimes we go biking, etc. I try to never walk/do the same activities twice in two days. i'd really like to get into biking with him, but even when i ...

Re: how much do you feed your dog per feeding?

I feed 3/4 to 1 cup twice a day --- but normally one meal is raw and that is 8 oz meat only or 10 oz meat with bone.

Re: Group socialization near Pasadena CA

I'd be up for trying a visit to the Huntington Beach dog beach sometime (or a walk nearby) -- tho I'd keep Ruby on lead. I've never been there before (we're in Costa Mesa).
