Be my guest. They should be forewarned that Ms Diarrhea not only is feeling better, but climbed on my desk, knocked down/ate/tried to eat the training treats, dog biscuits, and bully sticks that were on top of my bookshelf. So, if she's left loose, NO FOOD IN THE ROOM!

Right now, Tonka is basically a courtesy listing through YCSPCA. I'm the only one who's spent money on her, but in return I get whatever adoption fee is received (which will be pretty puny considering her age/health). Tonka is honestly about as healthy as she can be given the neglect that she had fo...

Holy cow has this fallen down the list! lol So, here's my random ethical dilemma: Tonka had nasty diarrhea earlier this week, and her bloodwork & x-rays showed nothing remarkable, GI wise. However, her x-rays do show that she has the worst spinal arthritis the vet has ever seen (she dragged the ...

BUD needs a new buddy!

To cut out all the family drama, a friend of mine stepped in to prevent her son's pit bull from going to the SPCA because her son was facing eviction because of the dog. Bud is white/brindle, about 7 months old, neutered, current on vaccines, housetrained, crate trained, leash trained. He is great w...

Well, you talk a good line, but you have a stud dog who is only 2 yrs old advertised on a free listing website for $1000 stud fee. I'm curious to know what Osiris has done to earn such a high stud fee and how this is a way to responsibly add to the pit bull population that already exists and in a st...

Your mother can always look into having a vasectomy done on her dog, as well. It is not going to help his frustration if he smells a female in heat, but at least it will prevent puppies. The less preferable option, but one to consider.

If you read the article through, it recommends spaying before the first heat because the risks of mammary tumors/cancer are almost nil if the spay is done first. Females do not experience a testosterone surge during puberty, so there is no difference in muscle tone/joint closure/etc. There really is...

Lo-Lo-Lo-Lo LOLA!

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p181/jltomich/lola1-1.jpg Lola was pulled from the Merced shelter when she was slated for euthanasia. She and her possible sister were found running in a field, and Lola was later found to have 6-8 bird or buckshot pellets under her skin. Both dogs were emaciated ...

petharbor.com is similar to petfinder.com, but it lets you search stray intakes as well. Just enter your ZIP code & click on the shelter(s) you want to search. You can search by breed, too, but that depends on what the shelter calls the dog.

Having had dozens of pediatric neuters done on rescues over the years, I have to disagree that it's a "lot of trauma" for a puppy. Neuters/spays tend to be a lot easier on puppies because they recover so quickly and the surgery is somewhat easier because the body parts involved are smaller...
