I had similar problems with Abbie Lou, which (after one of the longest months or so of my life!) ended up being attributed to a rice allergy. I went round and round with my vet on the Z/D. I REALLY, REALLY don't like Hill's. We ended up compromising, and I started Abbie Lou on a limited ingredient c...

It's EASY to love them, easy to want them. It's HARD to make the right, intellectual decision about whether a dog is the right fit for your family. I respect that. Fingers crossed that the right home comes along for her. I know you'll find your right dog.

Welcome! Hope you get all the answers you need. Lucky girl to have found you! Many around here will tell you to "never trust a pit bull not to fight," meaning that they keep their dogs separated when they are not under direct supervision. I do this with my dogs (two muttly wonders, one of ...

Nowhere does it address the likely dangerous Mr. Peaches being outside and off leash! Sorry to joke, I hate that the poor kitty died (I have three...LOVE cats), and while it's still not acceptable for a dog to be out of control enough to reach Mr. Peaches on his own property, this is reason number 4...

All I know is she has GREAT springy, asymmetrical ears, which is something I regard highly in all dogs.

I'm a know-nothing, but wish you and this cutie pie the best, whether she's yours or not.

Re: Need a good "punishment", and other training w

He KNOWS he isn't allowed to do this. You will have to learn a new way to think about "doggy knowledge" to overcome a lot of this. What he KNOWS is this: he KNOWS that food on Mom's plate tastes good enough to take the yelling, or the physical punishment, or whatever the consequence for e...

The glands secrete a NASTY fluid...they can get blocked and need intervention to unblock/"express" them. She may need to go to the vet to have the anal gland expressed. If you are so inclined and strong of stomach, a vet can teach you how to do it yourself (if, indeed, that's the problem)....

Ugh, sorry. I've dealt with a dog who suffered through this and, after it burst, it did heal up fairly quickly... I think we continued with the compresses to keep it clean. There's nothing like a big, gaping, ugly ass hole next your dog's regular one, yum! And did you ever think you'd get so intima...

Dog aggression is a trait that occurs in pit bulls. Any dog with pit ancestry or who has been known to be dog aggressive ever in the past should DEFINITELY be kept separate from other dogs when unsupervised. Even under supervision, they should only be together when all "high-value" stuff (...

My dogs' food (Healthwise, by Natura, one of the cheapest foods I'd ever recommend) has gone up about $6 per bag. For the cost of food, it's probably the same percentage increase as TW (which I always held to be overpriced, personally).

Really, I don't see any reason to add anything new to the diet. As Mskiwi said, just cut the food, and only cut it a little bit at a time. Weight loss/conditioning is a slow process. Try to do a little more exercise with him on a daily basis (don't wear him out so much that it's never any fun for hi...

I know one of my two has MUCH longer quicks than the others...and I work to get them shortened. I'd love to try a dremel...I've heard that dremeling can help shorten the quicks. I do see a minute shortening of the quicks if I file her nails often and "aggressively," meaning I get them just...
