I just wrap a short leash around my waist and attach a 5 foot leash to that... I tried attaching them to the handlebars, but I need the leverage of having it on my waist so the dogs don't pull me all the way over. Plus I wanted them attached to me so if I ever fell they weren't running down the road...

We use whatever we have on hand... scraps of fleece material, old socks, stuffies... all really soft and pretty light. I had a tennis ball on the end at one point, beaned Marley with it and he refused to play with the flirt pole for almost a month... he would cower instead. Since then I've always us...

It could just be a sign that he's excited. Carrie raises her hackles everytime she wrestles, plays fetch, is getting ready for a car ride, someone new comes in the house (including me coming home from work). If Kona is snarling and raising hackles I might be worried, but otherwise it probably is jus...

Sounds like TOO much exersize in my opinon... 6 miles is fine, your doing 9 Really depends on the dog. Django can truck forever and easily puts 9 under his belt on hikes or trail jogs with my bro. He also needs a high amount of exercise to keep him mellow. Are you running her 9 every day? or just o...

Yelp, and remove yourself from the play. She will start to realize that playtime is over when she bites. Removing yourself can range from turning your back to actually going into another room for a few moments, depending on how persistent she is. Once she has stopped protesting, you can start playi...

Marley used to get hiccups every time he ate, because he'd wolf down his food too quickly. We started feeding him on a giant pizza pan so he had to chase the kibble around and that helped a lot. The vet told us it was completely normal for puppies to get hiccups, not all of them do but apparently it...

Yep... there's all kinds of great dogs in the rescue section here. Be patient, don't feel that you need to get a dog this week, next week, or even within the next...

It sounds like you are doing great with him! The only thing I would mention is in your letter it said: Although he's doing well with the cat, so far, I do not yet feel comfortable leaving them alone together. I've had my cat for 8 years and my dogs for 3 years and I NEVER leave them alone...

It's also 'self heated and cooled with geothermal energy'... which means in our area you would have to bury it at least 8 feet deep to be past the frost line... You can build a regular dog house out of a couple sheets of plywood and some 2x2's for probably less than a quarter of what he wanted to ch...

I'm trying to curtail a bad behavior, and would rather a few strict understandable reprimands to two hundred "No, Hank, don't bite people" types. I made this post admitting that I realize I didn't do it right for this dog. I'm cool to have that pointed out to me, just please offer somethi...

Don't ever leave anything edible on the counter either... Everytime he jumps up and actually gets something it just re-inforces the fact that he can get food if he does it.

Carrie counter surfs too, but she's slowly not doing it anymore as long as we leave all food put away out of reach.
