Re: Dozer's Vet Visit- not good

Dozer goes in this week to have his stitches removed, and I will talk to Dr. Cord about the mitotic index. I am leaning toward keeping his tail for many reasons. If leaving the tail means I have very little time with him, then of course I will have it amputated. The location of the lump is what make...

Re: Dozer's Vet Visit- not good

I just feel like he would be so miserable without his "dog tail". He acted fine before I had the bumps removed. Now he is in stitches and miserable bc I keep telling him to "leave them alone!" I can't fathom how much this is going to cost. What if I can't afford it? What am I goi...

Re: Dozer's Vet Visit- not good

He didnt mention the index, but I will definitely ask Misskiwi. Basically the bump is so high up on the base of his tail, that if he were to go in 3cm margins there is a possibility they could damage the nerve attached to his sphincter which would cause him to lose control of his pooping. Therefor t...

Re: Dozer's Vet Visit- not good

Got results a minute ago. It is grade 2- tumor. He cant go back in and expand the margins bc of the location. He recommended a surgeon's opinion on tail amputation bc of the "dirty margins" in place. If the amputation were to affect his ability to control his bowel movements he would have ...

Re: Dozer's Vet Visit- not good

He wagged his tail at me this morning, but isn't ready to get up and go outside just yet. He usually sleeps in anyway I suppose. He slept on his dog bed next to my side of the bed all night, and I made sure he was covered with a sheet bc he gets so cold so easily. My little boy. I hope he will be ok...

Re: Dozer's Vet Visit- not good

He is home. He is so uncomfortable and pathetic :( . He is crying, and can't get situated. He peed outside for almost 5 minutes. There are three places on him shaved, and stitched, and about _______________________________________ long a piece. I will get pictures once he is resting comfortably. My ...

Re: Dozer's Vet Visit- not good

My sister just called me and said "we just got him pre-medicated" and asked if she could microchip him. I said of course. I've been meaning to do that anyway! He hasn't been anesthetized since he was 4 mo. old and was neutered. The vet is sending off 1 of the tumors. The one from his tail....

Re: Mast Cell Tumors : Lessons Learned

Dozer is having 3 pea sized tumors removed as we speak. Unfortunately I was bad and didnt get "before" pictures, but I will be sure to keep you updated on the progress. The blood work came back fine, but the aspiration from the tumor itself showed strange cells which is why he wants to sen...
