Re: Starting in bite work? Where to start?

I'm weighing in with two dogs - each with a decent amount of drive and only one on his way to competition. Coal will be the trial dog in schutzhund. Audry, while a superstar athlete and all star tugging partner with ME has NO desire to fight with the decoy and sees it as far too confrontational - sh...

Re: anyone from SEATTLE,WA

I don't recommend Packworks. They still use the 'hard platz' as a way of getting a 'reliable' platz. Stormi is used to training dogs with drive and has a titled DEAF dog. Stormi's intuitive and accessible and your puppy will benefit greatly from her class. No need to pay 800 bucks for a series of 'p...

Coal is 3 this Saturday, we're IN. Audry just turned 4 in June. :) George, my little old man foster, gets here this weekend.

Re: Pitbulls in Schutzhund?

Diane just got Hellboy's FH this weekend... Grimbo just finished up his Sch II and Freakie must be getting ready to do her II, I think. She got her I already, I'm pretty sure. She did her tracking this weekend as well. She did ring and schutzhund with Dirk. Schutzhund with the Yellow boy. Coal and I...

Re: Sweet athletic pit needs adoption or rescue (Phila, PA)

She's a girl version of my Coal. He's, near as I can tell, pit bull/dane x. Big (89# and very fit), tall, lots of go, one of the best dogs ever. Get her started on tugging so she can learn to clean her mouth up. Coal is UBER smart. Scary smart. He's also very sensitive to training technique and trie...

Re: Jojo (warning: graphic)

I might have a place for her with a sometimes foster of mine. She has 3 kids, they live in a small house, have a 10 year old male PERFECT pit bull and Devon Rex cats. I'm not sure if she's gotten another dog yet but they were looking at blue(ish) dogs and they need one who's not going to try to eat ...

Re: P/C dress ethics

I'd like to not see the 'suntan' nylons' in the ring (for any person showing), please. Get some tights. AND, to you lazy dressers here in at a lot of the NW shows (and you KNOW who you are) - maybe, just possibly - could you NOT wear your stained sweatshirts and/or jeans in the arena? Change into so...

Re: WA..Looking for a young pit bull

I have a fabulous 5 month old red fawn with white flash but he will NOT be cosmetically altered. There is no reason for it - it's a breed that can be shown cropped or uncropped. If one is not showing AND it's a rescue dog, there is no need. If he's interested in NOT cropping, Amos is a nice prospect...

Re: Water therapy recommendations for Seattle, WA?

Heavenly Pet Spa out in Fall City is THE BEST. Have Claire work your dog out. I live in Snohomish and went them every week with Emmitt before he died. Claire taught Coal how to swim and I take them there in the winter for self swim just b/c. It's an in ground actual pool... not those tiny little 'en...

Re: weight pull harness differences

I don't need a flat fabric but it seemed like the rolled foam would be more uncomfortable than a wider flat harness. Audry will be a pulling queen if she likes it - she's crazy strong, has a nice build and has a good solid work ethic. She can be a bit soft which would preclude competition if she did...

Re: weight pull harness differences

Um, I don't need the frills,I can add that later. I would like to know why people prefer the rolled harness to the flat or why they prefer flat to rolled. Missy V.'s has that thick rolled foam (?) and it looks REALLY uncomfortable. Could just be looks. Some prefer neoprene and some don't. Why (for e...
