Re: Who's Had Hives?

Oh wow I have never seen a dog with hives like that, to the OP.

I had a dog once that broke out in hives in her groin and "arm pits" when stung by a bee and the vet gave her a benadryll shot.

Hope things get better!

Re: Hip dysplasia :(

Just wanted to update on the things I've done for Thunder. I do massages for him and watch his exercise limit with the other dogs, and the kids. I try to keep his excitement level down as well. He is still taking his inflammatory medication when needed. But hes doing a lot better, and boy do I feel ...

Re: Hip dysplasia :(

Thanks for the advice I will look for that glyco flex supplement. The inflammation medicine has helped a lot. I am going to call other vets in my area, the vet that we go to are typically known for being pricey. But they've always seem to gone the extra mile with my animals (i.e. I thought my hamste...

Hip dysplasia :(

I'm pretty sure my APBT Thunder has hip dysplasia :( In the past few months I've noticed his back gait swaying when he walks, he's stiff to get up on the couch..he can't jump into the car without falling to the ground, and when he runs he fish tails, and does the "bunny hop". I sat up cryi...

Re: Have small children, adopt adult or puppy?

I'd agree on adopting from a foster situation, an adult, it slipped my mind. That would be the way to go. My relative was too much in a rush to really look, and just went to a breeder. Which unfortunately ended up with worms, bloat, and walks as if she's been kenneled too long. Doing well now. But u...

Re: Have small children, adopt adult or puppy?

I know puppies will bite n scratch just from playing rough, but the parent should manage the behavior of the kids n the dog. Like not letting them be playing wild and running around the dog, and also yeach the dog to be aware of the kids and not to jump. Eventually that behavior can be fixed with ob...

Have small children, adopt adult or puppy?

A relative of mine just recently bought a puppy from a breeder, because he thinks that adopting an adult dog is taking too much of a risk with having toddlers in the house. Question is: Has anyone adopted an adult dog with toddlers in the house? Personally, I have two toddlers myself, but my dog was...

Re: Frost bitten ear falling off?

K thanks...He has his first wellness check up since we adopted him. I wonder if the vet will go ahead and suggest removing it rather than letting it fall off?

Frost bitten ear falling off?

I adopted two cats from our AC last week and one was named 'frosty' because he was found out in the cold and ended up with a frost bitten ear. I think he got the frost bite about three weeks ago. Since I've had him home for a week the ear has blackened and although it has hair on it, it is starting ...

Forgot to mention he also gets cottage cheese. An organic egg every once in a while with shell.

Where to find Kelp? Hows my raw diet plan?

I was reading that many people give their dog kelp along with raw, where can I find kelp at in the grocery store? Or alfalfa for consumption? My dog right now eats chicken leg quarters, I've always given him beef for beef stew, pork shoulders, lean ground beef like what we use to make tacos sometime...

Will the hair grow back?

Will the hair grow back on my dogs elbows? Where it has rubbed and become kind of calloused looking from laying in a kennel? Since we moved, and no longer have to live under parents rules of where the dog sleeps...He has earned our trust (by not tearing the curtains/pooping/chewing)to sleep in my so...

Anyone had to downgrade dogfood?

Anyone had to down grade the dog food they were using because of this crazy economy and being laid off, or businesses going completely under?

We are having to do so, and I was wondering what a good brand that is not completely like feeding your dog mcdonalds everyday.
