What an adorable girl. :inlove: She could be my new foster dog's sister! My guy is the same general age 7-8 months. Even comes from the Puget Sound.

Lucia, how far will this person consider traveling? I am planning to order some pseudo scent for my SAR team to try out. We currently do not have any HRD dogs on our team, and really want to try a few dogs out. I could certainly try it out on some shelter dogs in my area to see if they have any inte...

It couldn't hurt to contact the ABKC to see if they could find a breed-experienced foster home or rescue, since she's a short and wide? I found this phone number on their website: (213) 291-9822 Most breed clubs have rescue contacts for their breed of choice; I know I've contacted Malinois breed cl...

Sugar in Oregon

Sugar has been living at the Multnomah County Animal Shelter in East Portland, Oregon for several months. She is being very well taken care of, but needs to get a home to call her own. She is a short and wide gal, weighing in at a very sturdy 37 pounds. She needs to be an only pet. She does not like...

It sounds to me like this dog has a whole lot of good qualities, and you are doing everything right by him. What I would suggest, if you can, is to find a really good local dog trainer or behaviorist who might be able to help you redirect his unwanted dominance behaviors. We have a trainer in my are...

PNWPBR is also unable to take owner surrendered dogs, as there are already too many on euthanasia lists who are completely out of options. Angela, you have a big heart. But your friend needs to accept responsibility for her dog. Tell her what can happen to her dog, should she choose to take her to a...

Amy, excellent post. I can offer my experience, and the choices I made: I gave my last foster dog 3 weeks from the time he showed behavioral issues until I euthanized him. I did not set out with that timeline, that is just how long it took me to make a decision. He came to me very sick, and I felt i...

What a CUTIE!!! I love his wrinkles! He was in foster care but is at the shelter now? This was foster care for the shelter where he is at. That is how they work it with this shelter - give the dog a foster spot to get them in good shape for adoption, but if they do not get adoption interest while i...
