that's basically what we use, only instead of paying like $35 for one at petco, we got a storage tote from walmart and cut a hole in the lid. works like a charm!

you're in lubbock? you can find much better locally! when i lived in clovis, i drove the two hours to lubbock just so i could find better quality pet supplies! heck, even petsmart has better quality food than science diet! there are also a few local feed stores that carry decent food (don't remember...

definately don't try driving with the puppy in your lap! that's not at all safe, for you, or the dog! especially not on that long of a trip. i'd definately put the little guy in a kennel in the back seat. make sure you secure the kennel, with the seat belt, bungy cords, whatever, so it doesn't shift...

i used it on my critters when we were in new mexico. i liked it a lot, we never had any buggy problems, and it made them smell good. i was even able to use it for my ferrets and rats. here, the mosquitoes are so monsterous that i've not found ANYTHING that's worked yet, not even k9 advantix.

diatomaceous earth. it's a powder you can get at lowe's, home depot, and most gardening stores. make sure you're not getting the pool grade. you can rub it into her fur, sprinkle it around your house/yard, even add it to her food!
