wow...I never knew that about the bloating.....

I was told to keep the food elevated because it can cause problems in their throat or neck from always having to hang their head down too low to eat....

no I havent done it yet... the day that Oreo got attacked (by a pitbull mix and a lab)....I didnt even know what to do I panicked and thought "OH NO MY BABY" I had Oreos leash on him but I didnt think to choke the other dogs with it....instead I tried to kicked the pitbull mix in his neck ...

if my vet told me "hes a pitbul they are dumb dogs what do you except" I think Id totally snap....luckily my vet used to own a pitbull and he said it was one of the best dogs he had...he now owns a airedale mix (his pittie went to the rainbow bridge) but we are always talking about our pit...

great info...Oreo doesnt have any food aggression towards humans...he did however as a puppy...one time he was chewing on his bone and I went in to grab it...he started to growl and me and I was like "NO OREO..YOU DONT GROWL AT ANYONE WHILE YOUR EATING!!"..he did it a few more times after ...

I wish I had read this before Oreos attack at the dog park..... :sad: but I did keep in mind what our trainer said "use the leash as a choker and choke the dog...that way they will fight for air and let go" so now I ALWAYS keep Oreos leash on...I let him run around with his leash still att...

I would go for the the Chicken Soup over Science Diet any day. When we first got our chihuahua (he is 3 yrs. now) that is what we fed him, and he did really good on it. I've heard good things about it, but unless you are talking to a vet, I've not heard any good things about Science Diet. ha.ha..ye...

whats the best type of elevated dog feeders? right now I have Oreos bowls on hollow tile blocks to get em off the ground and elevated....Ive been looking at the pet shops here but they only really cater to little dogs so there isnt anything for Oreo... thanks everyone.... I think I might go with the "travelin dog" one...the Large goes up to a 42....the Top Paw only goes up to 34..and I just measured Oreo and hes about 34.5 Im going to look into those cd pit ones too...I remember seeing those leather ones with the spikes and the pitbull e...

ha...ha....so far every "indestructable" toy that Ive bought for Oreo has been destroyed.... I used to give him coconuts but stopped because he rips it apart and sometimes the fibers of the husk get caught in his throat....not to mention, once he gets tired of husking it he begins to toss ...
