Re: Is this a safe toy?

I have used twotubes at the same time. x2. I have a set up similar to yours in my garage for the cold winter days. I use 2 inner-tubes and they last 6 dogs about 2mo. Check regularly and replace when they start looking worn. I recently started using bungee trailer ties (for horses) instead of a spr...

I have also heard sardines are good in am and mid day during work days http://www.caninechronicle.com/Features/Jansey_09/jansey_509.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; "Always feed fish additives in the morning as this is a food that is considered to brighten the dogs’ energy l...

Re: Braided leather leashes/collars

I would use a thin braided leather leash for shows. I think that would be rather elegant, but rugged. I am completely horrified to think how gross my dogs could get braided leather collars. Washing out cow pies is gross enough when there are no crevices for the, uh, poo to invade. I imagine they wou...

I know a lot of hunters use rivet on tags, so that could be an option too, but not as easily transfered between dogs.

Duh! I didn't even think of that! Perfect! I can even get them on nice leather collars! :nana:

Re: What to do when pup gets fired up and wont stop biting?

I have used the flirt pole with young pups, it is just slower and always on the ground.

I second the xpen idea! That is what we do with foster pups they usually get the idea pretty quick.

Re: Are grain-free diets REALLY grain free?

Just an FYI, there is no correlation between price and value/quality . Price is a way companies "communicate" value. It is one of the "4 Ps" that marketers use to maximize profit, market share, and gross sales. It is, therefore, really important to research any product, if you w...

Re: Feeding Raw

Yeah, the trout is all frozen. We fish, our friends fish, we end up with a crap load of rainbow trout. My dogs won't eat it out of the lake, but I give it to them frozen and they like to gnaw on it.

Re: Feeding Raw

I feed outside. If I feed inside I confine it and mop afterwards.

Question. Does anyone feed fish raw? I have a plethora of rainbow trout and have been giving it in place of the other meat (usually beef or lamb) intermittently. Is there anything I should know?

Re: Are grain-free diets REALLY grain free?

Interesting. Thanks for the info. At work I sell high end dog food and frequently assist clients in finding the right food for their pet. There appears to be a trend in high end kibble towards producing small, tested batches made from all "human quality", USA sourced ingredients. I wonder ...

Re: My shelter is closing... (Long!)

  My shelter was in the same situation. Only I am on the other side: the Board. (though I did work at the shelter for 3yrs). Our issue was poor leadership, and personality issues that prevented the Board from getting anything important done. There are many things that can be done, but it i...
