Horace had one on his chest when he was a pup. It got pretty big. My vet gave me triple antibiotic ointment for it. She said that it wasn't "official", but everyone said that it helped clear them up. I used it and it went away in about 2 weeks.

Just a happy update: Horace is eating, pooping nice, not vomiting, not breaking out in rashes and has a normal heartbeat. So everything finally looks okay!

(I double-posted this in "allergic reaction" thread, too.) Thanks, everybody, for all the support and kind words. It's been a helluva few days (since Thursday). So I took Horace to a different vet today since I wasn't satisfied with not being able to get any medical input from the other pl...

Thanks, everybody, for all the support and kind words. It's been a helluva few days (since Thursday). So I took Horace to a different vet today since I wasn't satisfied with not being able to get any medical input from the other place when he's having allergic reactions to the meds they gave him aft...

I'm so glad he's better and on the mend!!! ....but in your story I really expected that the odd/dead lump would be identified! Shheeeeeesh, way to leave the readers hanging. lol I know! I was hoping, too. When I brought it into the vet, I was thinking "If they're not interested I'm taking this...

well, i was there at 9, but no vets on duty today. so, i'm in for tomorrow at one, talked w the techs. I can keep him on the Benadryl, work him back to his regular food (keeping it bland with the white rice). I gave him an amoxicillin this morning, no metronidazole. I'll see how he reacts to that. I...

Well, he got through the night quietly, and his snout hasn't blown up again, but this morning his eye is all swollen up. So I gave him another 100 mg of benadryl and took pictures for the vet. My only question now is whether to CALL at nine or just be at the office at nine when they open.

100 mg of Benadryl brought the swelling down by at least 75%. His snout by the right side of his nose is still a tiny bit hard and swollen but nothing like the golf ball it was. So no meds tonight, and only foods he's used to. He's alert, active, playful, and appetant, so I think he's okay to get th...

No, he hasn't taken either of them before. Swelling of the face would be the thing, though, I guess.

Aw jeez Horace is having an allergic reaction.

His snout started swelling and got golf-ball sized and hard. He hasn't been vomiting so I gave him Benadryl and called an emergency vet for feedback. He's on bland diet so could be chicken, could be soy in baby rice cereal, or it could be the meds: amoxicillin, metronidazole. I'm now switching his b...

So far he has had about 7 tablespoonfuls of baby rice and baby chicken mush, and no barf. Later today he might graduate to uncle ben's! That 95 degree body temp looked really grim, and the vet didn't tell me great things when I first brought him in. Or even that he would definitely be back home. The...

Sometimes Hazel hyperventilates if she's under the covers. The same thing happens to my friend's pitbull. Any covers?

that you have good friends and that things are looking up. I have to give props to my friends Daniel and Kyle, owners of the glorious Pitbull pulled out of Chicago Animal Control, Chuckles. They live halfway between my house and the vet, and had a huge Thanksgiving dinner. I called on my way home w...
