So far he has had about 7 tablespoonfuls of baby rice and baby chicken mush, and no barf. Later today he might graduate to uncle ben's! That 95 degree body temp looked really grim, and the vet didn't tell me great things when I first brought him in. Or even that he would definitely be back home. The...

Sometimes Hazel hyperventilates if she's under the covers. The same thing happens to my friend's pitbull. Any covers?

that you have good friends and that things are looking up. I have to give props to my friends Daniel and Kyle, owners of the glorious Pitbull pulled out of Chicago Animal Control, Chuckles. They live halfway between my house and the vet, and had a huge Thanksgiving dinner. I called on my way home w...

UPDATE: Horace is "Out of the Woods!" Well, this morning before I took him back to the vet's I urged him to "Poop!" and this horrible thing came out that looked like half a mango pit mixed with an animal carcass and pelt. It didn't smell like poop but like some kind of rot. So I ...

I hope he feels better soon! How scary... they have no idea how or why he's sick? Ugh. Hang in there. Hazel is ok? Hazel is fine, except that she was very lonesome for her bro'. So I made myself a little bed on the living room floor to sleep next to his crate last night. Is that crazy? No vomiting ...

Thank you all so much for the prayers and good thoughts, you guys. Every single PBF resentment I ever had is out the window, and I'm literally crying tears of gratitude for all of the good Horace thoughts. They sent him home for the night. They said he was great and bouncy and playful all day, but w...

The vet called and said his response to the heat and fluid support has been good and that so far they're happy, so thanks for the prayers and keep them coming until Horace is better and home! I'll go visit him at around 5:30 to say goodnight before they close. Poor Horace. Poor lonely Hazel. :pray

Horace needs prayers

He was admitted to the hospital this morning. Everything seemed fine yesterday until he started vomiting every two hours last night. His last overnight vomit was 4 AM, so I got four hours of sleep, but as soon as I let him out at 8 am he vomited again. At the vet his temperature was 6 degrees below ...

don't quit before the miracle

Okay so Horace was thrown out of puppy playschool and shamed out of kindergarten training, where the instructor said he needed temperament testing and dominant dog training. Everyone said he'd probably never be safe around other dogs. BUT using my house and the world and a combination of methods, in...

Horace poops went to schytt after Canidae changed formulations. Yellow soft serve. Last week I was short on the duckets and checked the ingredients on the Costco/Kirkland, they looked good so I bought a bag, 40 lbs @ 23.99, about 1/2 the Canidae price. I didn't have much of the Canidae left for a sl...

YAY!!! I thought the new amendment was contradictory but I was WRONG! Ask a lawyer and all your fears will disappear! This is what a pitbull owning legal eagle has to say: "I think we're ok because what locals are free to adopt are only ordinances dealing with dangerous dogs (again, this is a d...

Help for Horace?

Okay so here's the skinny. Horace and Hazel are approx 20 and 13 months old. Horace has always been a little reactive, a little excitable, but he's done real real well at settling himself down when he feels himself amping up and he's a great teenager. They always loved their vet and going to the vet...
