UPDATE: Horace is "Out of the Woods!" Well, this morning before I took him back to the vet's I urged him to "Poop!" and this horrible thing came out that looked like half a mango pit mixed with an animal carcass and pelt. It didn't smell like poop but like some kind of rot. So I ...

I hope he feels better soon! How scary... they have no idea how or why he's sick? Ugh. Hang in there. Hazel is ok? Hazel is fine, except that she was very lonesome for her bro'. So I made myself a little bed on the living room floor to sleep next to his crate last night. Is that crazy? No vomiting ...

Thank you all so much for the prayers and good thoughts, you guys. Every single PBF resentment I ever had is out the window, and I'm literally crying tears of gratitude for all of the good Horace thoughts. They sent him home for the night. They said he was great and bouncy and playful all day, but w...

The vet called and said his response to the heat and fluid support has been good and that so far they're happy, so thanks for the prayers and keep them coming until Horace is better and home! I'll go visit him at around 5:30 to say goodnight before they close. Poor Horace. Poor lonely Hazel. :pray

Horace needs prayers

He was admitted to the hospital this morning. Everything seemed fine yesterday until he started vomiting every two hours last night. His last overnight vomit was 4 AM, so I got four hours of sleep, but as soon as I let him out at 8 am he vomited again. At the vet his temperature was 6 degrees below ...

Horace poops went to schytt after Canidae changed formulations. Yellow soft serve. Last week I was short on the duckets and checked the ingredients on the Costco/Kirkland, they looked good so I bought a bag, 40 lbs @ 23.99, about 1/2 the Canidae price. I didn't have much of the Canidae left for a sl...

I use benadryl if there's been serious exposure, I also hose Horace off after grass contact, and if he has lesions I use neosporin first and then "Buddy Boo Boo" on him, which is tea tree and other soothing stuff. He seems to like it.

Yikes! Any word on why they did this and if other formulas are also affected? I feed the all life stages... They added more fresh lamb, I think, and diversified the carbohydrate, adding brown rice and pearl barley. The lady on the phone was talking about rice crops in China and Myanmar; I don't kno...

Heads Up Canidae lamb/rice formulation change

They changed the formulation slightly, it looks different, and will cause loosies if you have a sensitive pitbull like Horace, so start mixing now, if you still have some old stuff!

Hi! I'm collecting signatures in Pittsburgh and in Beaver County, way across the state! Welcome, and keep up the fight! One of my neighbors who signed my petition last night while walking her dog was attacked by a loose pitbull 10 minutes later, so I was feeling very discouraged this morning. But so...

Well, last summer got covered with hives, and I had to have him on Cephalexin and Benadryl for a month. Then I put him on fish and sweet potato food and he was good, until he had to be on a bland diet in the fall and he started hiving up immediately with the chicken. His mom is known to have beef al...

bland diet for allergy dog?

Horace has had awful diarrhea since Tuesday afternoon/evening and I've had him fasting since then. His last gruesome poops -- with a little straining blood -- were last night, and he got through the night and hasn't wanted to squat today. SO I just gave him a little rice and baby-rice gruel for his ...
