Re: Rocco is trembling occasionaly...Please Help!

Maybe get him a blanket and start teaching him the word blanket and showing him how warm they can be. If you see him trembling/shivering ... feel his ears and his feet. If either feel chilly, ask him "Blanket?" and then put the blanket over him , tucking it so his ears and feet are covered...

Re: OMG! He ate chocolate!

And yet it won't bother some dogs at all ... My cockapoo of 25 pounds was a master at getting into places he should have never been able to get into. And he ADORED chocolate. And he came to me that way - someone else before I rescued him introduced him to that stuff. But I have come home and found t...

Re: Your advice for healthy skin..shiny coat

Part of the reason I asked how long you have been showing in UKC , is because it helps back your authority to know if it is something that is allowed or not, and it helps give you more credibility for presenting yourself as knowing the ins and out of the UKC organization's rules and accepted practic...

Re: Your advice for healthy skin..shiny coat

The Miracle Groom spray doesn't count, or everyone in the ring would be DQ'd! They don't allow much, but that is about it. It doesn't change the apperance of the dog at all, it doesn't even really add gloss. It just keeps the dust from sticking to the coat. I actually got that tip from a judge!!! I...

Re: Your advice for healthy skin..shiny coat

Except as allowed by a dog’s UKC breed standard, exhibitors are prohibited from altering coat color, coat texture, pigment color, ear carriage, tail carriage or any other essential element of the dog’s conformation by any external means, including artificial color, foreign substances, or surgical m...

Re: Capone is Sick: I'm in need of advice

On the Pepto ... if you have never used it .... here is a warning ... Most dogs are NOT going to like it. At all. In fact they might just spit it out. Not such a big deal you might think ... unless you decide to try giving your dog that stuff on a light colored carpet or around light colored furnitu...

You asked for opinions - so I gave mine.

It's worth every cent that you paid for it. LOL. :))

Re: Your advice for healthy skin..shiny coat

Toby's coat is awesome. He eats only Purina Pro Plan Salmon food and as a supplement every so often a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt in the morning on his food (which he got every morning for the first 1 and a ½ years of his life religiously) when I'm wanting his coat to have some extra luste...

Re: Pet Insurance, VPI Ect.

I've mentioned this on other forums and maybe here before as well, but I'll do so again for the heck of it .... Most insurance plans will take your cash happily enough - but few pay out when the time comes. If you are truly dedicated and wanting to put money into a health care fund for your dog, it ...

I'm thinking bloat or obstruction myself - both of which scream for seeing a veterinarian ASAP.

Re: An alternative for Hill's L/D diet?

I can say that I have seen REALLY good things from Purina Pro Plan Salmon Kibble. EVERY dog I've seen that eats *nothing* but that has been an incredible example of an amazing dog, and their coats are gorgeous. I've heard from a variety of quality breeders that they've tried every else under the sun...

You gave her one of the greatest gifts a loving owner could give her. Right next to that is the gift you gave her of a life with you.

My deepest condolences.

Re: Are laser pointers safe?

It's actually sort of stressful for the dog - because they can never "get it" or "win". Therefore each session sort of builds on the preceding ones - and the dogs get obsessed on getting this prey that cannot be caught. Humans tend to see their reactions and interpret the interes...

Re: Hard decisions: when is it time to let an old dog go?

Alyssa--23 years old! I'm astonished any dog could live that long. I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sorry for all our losses! Well, it was sort of an estimate - I rescued him from a horrible druggie home and had him for 17 years, and the folks there and that used to frequent that home for parties all t...
