Re: RAW diets and proper nutrition?

I don't think Stacie was trying to make this a raw debate. Personally I think the person failed the dog miserably and I do hope they pop on and see this thread. True.. I missed this. I think properly done it can be a miracle food actually, done improper or cutting corners or forgoing comon sense (h...

Re: RAW diets and proper nutrition?

If the thinking that RAW fed dogs are so healthy they dont need common check ups I see a bigger problem looming. You are mistaking my comments regarding why MsK's population sample is skewed. It was an explanation, NOT an endorsement of discarding vet care. With so much negativity from vets, who tr...

Re: RAW diets and proper nutrition?

So (SOME) people feeding raw feel they dont need to visit a vetinarian for well checks? Worm checks? and vaccinations. Guess that thinking could of led this dog to the path of being under weight, (emmaciated), positive for whipworms (which more than likey meant no preventative for other parasistes )...

Re: Guess I'm Venting here

I would highly reccomend finding a vet to take him too and ask these questions, petco vets are vetinarians or possibly just vet techs , they are hired in to vaccinate and really can not take the time to help you as is really needed in their quick clinics. The puppy was sold WAY to young at either ag...

Re: RAW diets and proper nutrition?

But I wonder too if it started the decline feeding an incomplete RAW diet That is very possible. I know alot of people are sent to the sticky on here for raw feeding. To me that sticky is very confusing and all over the place. Some will do their homework on raw but too many just jump into, not givi...

Re: RAW diets and proper nutrition?

To be blunt...it sounds like the person who was caring for the dog is lying. I would find it hard to believe that a dog could be in that condition or heading down the road to that condition and go unnoticed. That was my gut reaction way before the end of your description. This is a foster situation...

Re: RAW diets and proper nutrition?

THAT is VERY possible FBODGRL . But I wonder too if it started the decline feeding an incomplete RAW diet. I think its so very important to not skip parts of such a complete diet program that is needed with the raw diets. There is alot of questions on this dog. most just questions.....no real facts ...

RAW diets and proper nutrition?

I have had a recent problem with a dog that has been adopted from a foster home that was not near to us, and was taken to the vet with the adopters- and is as the vet put it suffering from severe malnutrion, per the vet the dog was emmaciated , the dogs nails were hollow due to improper nutrition an...

Re: New rescued brat with severe skin issues

Wow the poor guy. I have NO idea, if not any kind of mange, I too would think allergies and stress. Once off all the meds, if me, I would continue on good foods, organic meats if using raw, rub his skin down with organic virgin coconut oil, omega 3 supplement in his food (I am using wild salmon oils...

His body scabs due to skin problems are starting to heal and go away. Thanks to better food, fish omega supplements and rubbing some Vit E and coconut oils on him. His f...
