Strollers for big dogs?

So, Riddle's knee surgery is coming up sooner or later, and I want to be prepared. We're about halfway saved up, so I figure now is a good time. I want to get a stroller for her, one that can go on trails and stuff, so she can come with us on hikes instead of getting left behind all the time. Once h...

Re: Another dog death blamed on dog treats...

I would worry about ALL food products from China. If its not 100% made in the USA, I would beware. its a little hard to find things made in the usa, though..nowdays. Not food products. The store I work at will not carry any food, treats, or chews that are made in China, period. Sure, our stuff ends...

Re: Cooling vests/collars

Riddle has a Swamp Cooler, and it's been amazing over the last few summers. She has a hard time in the heat, and it makes a huge difference. You don't even have to use cold water to get it to work- it works through evaporation. I can feel how much cooler she is if I stick my hand under the coat.

Re: Joint supplements homework, please?

I love InClover's Connection. It comes in powder and tablet form. I'm currently using the powder, since it has really high amounts of yucca in it, which is a great anti-inflammatory. The powder has more yucca per dose than the tablets, but comparable glucosamine and chondriotin levels. I also like i...

Re: FML. Riddle, of course.

Well, since cruddy things always get cruddier with Riddle... I think she blew the whole thing. Possibly tore the meniscus. Fifteen minutes into her first off leash venture, she took off after a rabbit and came back a tripod. I had to carry her back partway. Now she's completely non-weight bearing on...

Re: FML. Riddle, of course.

Well, the x-rays today showed that she has in fact torn her left ACL. Which sucks. It doesn't look like a full tear, at least for now. We decided to go for the surgery. I've been thinking a lot about the PRP, but what it comes down to is that yes, it could repair the ligament, but she can and probab...

Re: Thinkin' bout switchin' from Evo to Orijen

Sorry, but I absolutely hate it when someone comes into a thread about a food, toy, jacket, or anything else and just throws a minor hissy fit about how awful it is, and not give any real evidence as to why. I also hate that you're so hypocritical about it- you say you don't like Champion because of...

Re: What can I give her for pain?

What are the ingredients? Arnica is a great natural pain reliever for dogs. We have an arnica based pain medication on hand for Riddle (Traumeel), and it works great for her. The Aches & Pains tablet ingredients are: Glucosamine, Bromelain, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), White willow Bark and Yuc...

Re: Thinkin' bout switchin' from Evo to Orijen

I'm negative about MOST commercial pet diets and skeptical about almost all methods of feeding. I'm also not the only one who I know who has had a difficult time getting any reliable information from them. I pick on them especially because of my PERSONAL experience, as I said, and because in my lin...

Re: Thinkin' bout switchin' from Evo to Orijen

thanks all, it does seem that the price of Orijen is the biggest deterrence to most. I'm glad so many have had great results with TOTW, like i stated i just don't trust Diamond. Curious on how the quality of Solid Gold is these days, been a long time since i've heard much about them If you're not o...

Building a dog ramp on the cheap. :)

I'm so proud. I've never built anything before! I literally had to buy a drill, screws, and a saw along with the lumber, haha. My lumber: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/savage_destiny/Riddle/20120301_193146.jpg I this is a strip of wood to help secure the bottom support of the ramp. I glued ...

FML. Riddle, of course.

*bangs head on wall* It's looking very possible that Riddle has torn the ACL in her left knee, since obviously she can't have a mismatched set. She started limping 2 weeks ago. I don't know why- I was with her all day, and nothing weird happened. But she got up off the couch and was suddenly non-wei...
