Re: Single protein food?

Nature's Variety has some excellent LID diets. One protein (lamb or turkey), tapioca, peas, some oils for the coat and green tea. That's it. They kick Natural Balance's LID diets right in the butt, since they actually keep meat as the first ingredient rather than potatoes. Here's info on the turkey ...

Re: Immune system supplements?

Riddle is on a variety of SP products for different issues, and I love them. The Feline Renal has done wonders keeping my borderline renal disease kitty in good health as well. There's also mushroom supplements like this: http://www.chineseherbsdirect.com/power-mushrooms-p-89.html" onclick="window.o...

Well, considering that you linked the article on a board meant for discussion, I thought that you wanted feedback and discussion on the article. My bad.

Re: What;s wrong with the grain free kibbles?

The title of that article is VERY misleading. Nothing she says is in any way specific to grain free kibbles, the whole article does nothing but spout the evils of kibble in general. She's not talking about grain free kibble being bad, she's talking about ALL kibble being bad and throwing a title on ...

Re: So now we have elbow problems...

Soooo of course the laser machine broke a couple days ago. :( Its been sent off for repair, but might not be back for a week or so. Our vet decided to try acupuncture for her today instead, so we went with that. Riddle was really good about being poked with needles, but really impatient waiting the ...

Re: Are grain-free diets REALLY grain free?

The Diamond plants actually make a lot of different brands. Of the many brands of pet food sold, there are only a few that are produced in their own plants. Most are made by a very few manufacturing plants, and I don't know how many, if any, are careful to avoid cross-contamination in their formula...

Re: Feeding Raw

I don't buy into the whole "raw must be separate" mumbo jumbo... I think its hokey with no real basis of fact behind it. I don't recommend it because it does seem to upset a lot of tummies. I know a lot of people do mix kibble and raw, and there's no danger in it, but a lot of the time it...

Re: So now we have elbow problems...

Its hard to say 100% for certain since we've been keeping her so quiet- she gets carried from couch to bed a lot since its easier than up/down up/down lifting. lol But she was a bit lame this morning, and didn't seem to be at all a bit ago when I pottied her.

Re: So now we have elbow problems...

Well Riddle had her first laser appointment today, and it went well. Our vet used the broad one first, then the pinpoint one actually to hit some of the acupuncture points in the area. She didn't mind it at all. We also did the first dose of Adequan, so hopefully we're on the right track! As a side ...

Re: Anyone with cold laser experience?

We did it for Riddle when she pulled a shoulder muscle, and it really seemed to help. She's also starting laser therapy twice a week next week, for an elbow issue. I have a thread about her elbow about half a page down, and I'll be keeping track of her progress with the laser if you're interested.

So now we have elbow problems...

We finally went to see the orthopedic specialist in town today, the same one who did Riddle's knee, about what we thought was a shoulder issue. She's been limping after exercise for a few months now, and resting with no exercise for multiple weeks different times hasn't made it better. So our regula...

Re: Grooming / shaving?

Bathing helps too, clean hair sheds out easier that dirty hair. If there's a self serve dog wash in your area, take her there and try using the forced air dryer on her- it helps to blow out tons of loose coat. You could always take her to a good groomer and have them give her the works, too. With Co...

Re: Grooming / shaving?

Do not shave her, please just don't. I am a dog groomer, and I've been forced to shave dogs with coats like hers. First and foremost, shaving will not stop the shedding- she will just shed horrible short, prickly hairs. Aside from that, shaving a coat like hers will ruin it. It will not grow back ni...

Re: Feeding Raw

I've tried whole prey a bit, with varying success. Both dogs will eat whole fish. Riddle will eat whole quail (defeathered), but Melon WILL NOT. On the same note, Melon ate a rat (fur on) while Riddle didn't... but then Melon puked the rat back up later. So mostly I stick with body parts from variou...
