Help :( What are symptoms of different knee injuries?

Ok, I know there's a lot of info in this forum about different knee injuries and surgeries, but I don't know what is wrong, and so I don't know what to look for. Josie, my spazzy 7yo pit bull mix pirate dog, was sleeping in a crate, when she suddenly jumped up and ran out. She would run fine, but sh...

Re: Immune system supplements?

I guess I'm lucky, because Mimi eats her l-lysine chews and her vitamins quite well. Luckily, her eyes are pretty much ok, but the whole time we've had her (since June) she's never quite gotten rid of the sniffles and snot, and the past couple months have been constant snottiness. I've never seen so...

Re: Immune system supplements?

Oh god no, they get the feline supplements - I gave the link for the canine supplements because that is what Red was looking for. http://www.thecatsupplement.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They have two separate sites for canine and feline for some reason. It's expensive but it...

Re: Immune system supplements?

We have been using Dr. Jones' supplements http://www.thedogsupplement.com/index.php for our foster cats that have feline herpes - we tried multiple medications and a couple other supplements before this was suggested to us and these cats had been quite ill with symptoms for 6 months in my rescue's ...

Re: Good Lord, anything else at this time?

I sent a little via PayPal. I hope this works out for Zoey, and I am so glad she has Val to give her all the opportunities she's been given. Even if she'd been euthanized as planned today, she's had more in this short time than most dogs (especially pit bulls) could ever hope to have, and she would ...

Re: Names I'd like to never hear again*

Anything named "Buddy" x2 Not shelter related, but at the grooming salon, we can look dogs up by their names or their owners' last names. I love it when people call and say "Hi, I need to get Max/Buddy/Abby/Bailey/etc in to get groomed!" and then seem irritated when we ask which...

Re: Treating fly-bitten ears

I got a thing of the Flys Off for now and just told the people I was going to be coming over and taking care of their dogs' ears. They said they hadn't noticed the flies but don't care if I do it. I might opt for vaseline when this container wears out. I spend too much money on other peoples' neglec...

Re: Treating fly-bitten ears

Last summer the biting gnats were crazy here. Mexi, Umah and Hoss were in outdoor kennels during the day while I worked, and Hoss and Mexi's poor ears were chewed to bits. I went through six different brands of fly spray, ointment, and paste. The one I found that worked the best is called Flys-Off,...

Treating fly-bitten ears

Occasionally I post about my neighbor's two pit bulls, one of which lives in a 8x8 or 10x10 filthy nasty kennel, the other of which lives on a 10' chain next to (my) chain link fence (so he only has an arc, not a full circle). Both have shoddy plastic dog houses (one is actually a kennel sans door) ...

Re: Spitting up food

Symptoms: *Regurgitation of water, mucous or food. (Regurgitation is throwing up without any warning; "vomiting" is associated with retching.) *Loss of appetite or refusal to eat. *Sudden weight loss. *Swallowing difficulty, exaggerated and/or frequent swallowing. *They will also try to c...

Re: Spitting up food

He just kinda burps, and a little bit comes out. He barely seems to notice.

I'm going to look that up, though.

Spitting up food

My 8-9 yo Akita, Bogart, has been spitting up small amounts of food over the past month or so. I've had him for almost 4 years, and this is a new thing. He has always had a bad habit of drinking too much and then spitting up a little water a minute later. Spitting up meaning small quantities, not th...

Re: Kibble change (Fromm?)

I always look to this forum for ideas like this, and today I went to the store and put some serious thought into switching from TOTW to Fromm. I had to come home and look up calories, though, because I need one of my dogs on a higher-calorie diet than TOTW provides. The only two options I see that ...
