Pug/Bulldog/Boston noses

So, we just acquired a Pug. Yay me lol I'm pretty versed in all their special needs, but I was looking for suggestions on a certain subject: his nose. As a groomer for 7+ years, I've seen more than my fair share of graying, flaking, crusty, gross noses... Mostly on English Bulldogs, but some Pugs an...

Re: Squeakers That Won't Die

I think they're pretty cool. I got a snake for my dog, but she was more interested in separating the sections than testing the squeakers. Pretty cool, though. The noises they make are insane! I don't know, I really like our snake. Got one for my SS person, too. I only let my dogs play with it for s...

Safestix

This past year, my SS recipient expressed an interest in Safestix for her dogs, because she had experienced stick-related injuries in the past w/ her dogs. I did not order one, although I did try to find them in some local stores - without luck. After shipping charges, I just found them more ($26-27...

Re: Identicollar - a twist on ID collars!

While I didn't purchase this deal the first time I posted it, it came up again recently and I went ahead and bought one, since Josie keeps losing her F-ing tags. How does a dog on a zip line (because she hops fences) keep losing her tags? Anyway. I bought one, it came with a ton of numbers and lette...

OK, apparently it had an issue with a link I tried to embed in there?

Re: Dog Groomers?

I've been trying to post a sizable response since yesterday, but the forum keeps saying NO. Trying again: Do groomers ever do any handling classes? I would think offering a class to help the dog accept the kind of touching they receive during grooming would be very beneficial - it's a source of inco...

Re: Lib's Lump

Oh goodness. I'll be thinking of you guys! Can you use Care Credit to help keep a buffer in your savings? What about PBRC? You're a shelter worker devoted to saving lives - I have to imagine they'd want to help.

Re: Help :( What are symptoms of different knee injuries?

She's never done it before. The couple times I found symptoms sounding most like what happened, it WAS a luxating patella, but I know that's most often a small dog thing, and I know the dogs here are constantly having ACL, CCL, or similarly nasty problems. So I was quite worried. She seemed ok last ...

Help :( What are symptoms of different knee injuries?

Ok, I know there's a lot of info in this forum about different knee injuries and surgeries, but I don't know what is wrong, and so I don't know what to look for. Josie, my spazzy 7yo pit bull mix pirate dog, was sleeping in a crate, when she suddenly jumped up and ran out. She would run fine, but sh...

Hazel Park, MI - Pit Bull Ban (and spiked collars, too)

I didn't even see notification that this was up for debate, and some people are saying that this decision was made with as little notice as possible, although I don't know if this is fact. Hazel Park (outside of Detroit) previously listed pit bulls as "dangerous" animals, but they have now...

Re: Immune system supplements?

I guess I'm lucky, because Mimi eats her l-lysine chews and her vitamins quite well. Luckily, her eyes are pretty much ok, but the whole time we've had her (since June) she's never quite gotten rid of the sniffles and snot, and the past couple months have been constant snottiness. I've never seen so...

Re: Immune system supplements?

Oh god no, they get the feline supplements - I gave the link for the canine supplements because that is what Red was looking for. http://www.thecatsupplement.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They have two separate sites for canine and feline for some reason. It's expensive but it...

Re: Immune system supplements?

We have been using Dr. Jones' supplements http://www.thedogsupplement.com/index.php for our foster cats that have feline herpes - we tried multiple medications and a couple other supplements before this was suggested to us and these cats had been quite ill with symptoms for 6 months in my rescue's ...

Re: Good Lord, anything else at this time?

I sent a little via PayPal. I hope this works out for Zoey, and I am so glad she has Val to give her all the opportunities she's been given. Even if she'd been euthanized as planned today, she's had more in this short time than most dogs (especially pit bulls) could ever hope to have, and she would ...
