Re: Samurai had surgery...

Tried the other kinds unfortunately he can still reach back there with them on... had one of the doughnut ones on to try to deter him and he ripped it apart getting it off when I left him for a minute. He is an escape artist and contortionist. It started when he escaped 4 ft x-pens at just a few wee...

What causes a perianal hernia?

Thanks!

Straining to potty, diarrhea, prostrate issues, ad other such things. He had a bad case of diarrhea after eating grass and I'm guessing that is what caused it. No way to know for sure.

Samurai had surgery...

About Samurai for those who haven't met him. AKA "SAM the HAM, Mr. BUTT BAM-SLAM" says hi by doing 180 flip in the air to give you his butt to scratch... Yes, he even does this to judges in the show ring. I call him my comic relief. His theme song is "Baby Got Back" because of it...

Re: Is my dog in heat?

They can start on average between six months to a year give or take. Sounds like she is in heat. Keep all males away and do not leave her unattended at all while out. No walks other than in your own yard to be on the safe side too.

Re: Anyway to increase Red Blood Cell counts...

I brought Amber's ashes home this evening. She will always have a very special place in our home and in our hearts. I never posted pictures of her. I don't have any great pictures but this is one from about a year ago. She always loved to sunbathe in the part of the yard with no landscaping. Maybe ...

Re: Anyway to increase Red Blood Cell counts...

I'm so very sorry that things have gotten worse. I was thinking about you both since I read this. It is so hard sometimes as much as we try it may not help. But she knows you are ding what is best for her and love her. That is all that counts . Try adding some stinky canned cat food like natural bal...

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Hugs and prayers for your baby! I'm not sure what will help, but you may want to try to get in touch with a holistic vet.

Re: Tumor on a pup?

I like removing them too, although most people opt to let them go away. Even if its that 1 in a 1,000... you don't want your pup to be the statistic. Not all puppies are well behaved enough to allow local anesthesia either!! Exactly after losing Tasha this year, we couldn't go with chance on Chi Ch...

I'm so sorry. Hugs and prayers.

Actually chemo was very expensive when I did it with my girl... and it didn't save her.

There are more advances even since then though. That was 3 1/2 years ago. There is always hope and sometimes miracles do happen.

Re: Weight loss at one year???

Are you sure she actually lost weight? Did you weight her? I ask because as dogs mature they may redistribute weight and some get taller and lanky in stages before they fill out. Weigh her and keep an eye on the weight. Rapid weight loss is never normal IMO. If she continues to drop weight, I'd say ...
