Wow, I hope we can get the type of crystals thing sorted out. I'm going with the cranberry for struvites, no? You guys have been extremely helpful!! :peace: Honestly, not a single soul here in either vet clinic could tell me what ingredient makes the PH change - isn't that unreal? And here I get str...

To the OP - my only question is how many obedience classes has your dog gone to? None? Then don't use a prong..get your butt and your dog into a class that will teach you some basic skills of how to get your dog to walk on a leash. Honestly, so many owners want to use this equipment before they've e...

Dry, "crackly" sort of nose???

Hi all,

My new Jammie Slammie has always had a very dry, somewhat "looks like cracked cement" sort of nose.

What causes these things? Any ideas?

She gets quality food, supplements etc, etc.

Oh yeah, I'm not sure about the shots but you can also use over the counter antihistamines to give your dog some daily, immediate relief, until you figure out the root of the problem. Getting the dog to stop scratching is uber important. The scratching can lead to all sorts of secondary skin infecti...

That could be a food or environmental allergy. Looks like it to me!! First piece of advice: Get a NEW vet that knows something about bully breeds and/or skin conditions. Telling you it's simply mites is ridiculous. Seriously. Second piece of advice: A lot of people on here have allergic bullies and ...

Ditto that.

Unless you want to be paying big expensive vet bills later on down the line for advanced arthritis and bone and joint issues?!?!?

Regular "puppy play" should be enough to tire out a young dog. I wouldn't be running any pup that young at all.

:goodpost: Yup, looks infected. Pitties get that a lot but that's a pretty bad one. I would say to try limiting the diet and see if that improves. What do you feed your dog? It won't improve on it's own now though just through food as it looks really infected and at this point probably needs antibio...

Wow, here in BC, we don't vaccinate nearly as much as you Americans lol We don't have any "required" vaccines at all, but I did know that certain States do require it for disease control. Do you get a lot of Rabies down there???? I think the AVMA just changed the protocols of adult dog vac...

I don't know how it is in NY, but I can say that depending on what region of the country you're in, usually they will give different combos, depending on what diseases are most prevalent. If your friend can return the pup to the mom for 2 more weeks, that's the best scenario. If she can't, the pup c...

My Jammie had this for a little while when I first got her. Right around where she pees too, like your pup. Then she fussed with it and it got all scabby like that. Just a typical run of the mill bacterial infection of the skin. I just washed the area in an anti-bacterial soap for a couple of days a...

do you have the pitcairn book "guide to natural health for dogs and cats"? there is a discussion about small and large bladder stones which may be helpful. I don't unfortunately. My brief understanding of this though is that crystals are not stones, but could turn into stones?? She doesn'...

Linariel - just checked out the links! Thanks!!! :peace: They helped a lot. Now I'm going to work on "naturally" effecting her PH in her diet to see if I can resolve this without having to put her on that food. It's worth a shot I think and worst case scenario, we're right back where we st...
