I don't know if I am going to word this right but the when a dog eats raw meat there is a lot of moisture in it and once you take the moisture out and have the dry matter the protein is a lot less. But, the problem in dry dog food with high protein levels is there is not a lot of moisture. Maybe so...

Regarding raw, I don't know if you are or not, but you should be at least familiar or know exactly what your doing when feeding a 10 week old puppy raw. You have to know how to feed a puppy properly or you could end up causing damage. You have to make sure you get the phosphorous (meat): calcium (bo...

Is your dog taking any fish oil supplement......fish oil can thin the blood and make it hard to clot.

Was your dog in heat when she got spayed?

Look into the mini mite it is cordless you can get them at walmart and make sure to get 60 grit, if you do decide to go that route. Also if you get the minni mite make sure to use it on low not high. It actually isn't that loud.

N2K, You have to feed 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% organ meat (5% of organ meat should come from liver and 5% from other organ meat like kidneys, etc.) Dogs need bone for calcium. BTW, heart is considered a muscle meat not an organ meat. Do some searches on raw and read this entire post or check out s...

My husband bought our grinder for deer meat originally. It works really well. I think it cost 400-500. It is a commercial grinder. He said it is a little better than the Northern Tool but if you purchase a northern tool it is a good idea to purchase a commercial blade they last a little longer.
