Re: Heartworm Meds in the Dead of Winter?

Here we give HW meds from April to Oct, if that whole has to be 60 degrees day and night for a month thing is true than we wouldn't have needed it all at last year, it was such a crappy cold summer. We got 3 weeks of nice weather in Sept but I doubt it was above 60 at night still. That's interesting...

Re: One of my knuckle-heads ate cat litter

Liberty ate an entire litter box full of Swheat Scoop a few weeks ago. There were literally more particles on her nose than there were left in the box. Yep. Dogs are really gross. Back when I used Swheat scoop for my ferrets a bag we ordered in broke in transit and scattered a bunch all over the fl...

Re: Rough play-Bad Idea?

We roughhouse, not really with Nero because he doesn't have a ton of self control and gets too excited but Jersey loves it, she will "nip" while playing with my boyfriend but not with me because she knows it's against the rules, we do a lot of foot grabbing or shoving around, she also love...

Re: Adult/puppy interaction-do sexes play a role?

Nero doesn't like puppies anymore than adult dogs, Jersey does seem to be very tolerant of them but she usually likes well behaved dogs.

Re: excercise when it is cold.

Tiva are your dogs going nuts yet? It's been -30 every morning for the past few days, we haven't even broken 0 yet, the dogs are so stir crazy, we are ready to kill each other. We play running up and down stairs mostly, maybe I should make a flirtpole and make some room in the basement today.

Re: Success!

Glad it went well, we don't travel too often long distance with the pups, about once a year, last year we traveled with a friend who had to stop to pee or grab snacks every couple hours so it worked out well.

Re: Doggie Door and Smart Pit Bulls

I'm going to aks you how much exercise Nero was getting at the time this happened. Are you telling me you considered this dog at the time he jumped this fence out of the blue totally trained dog who you could handle around any other dogs, right? Cuz that's my situation with my dogs. The trainers an...

Re: Doggie Door and Smart Pit Bulls

And I thought Trixie had a high prey drive. Never ever have any of our dogs attempted jumping the fence. If I had dogs like yours, and I've never had a dog that jumped a fence so far, I'd do exactly the same thing. Nero had never attempted to jump my fence before either, never paid any attention to...

Re: Doggie Door and Smart Pit Bulls

I would be concerned about fence jumping, or something happening. I never let my dogs out unsupervised. x2 Please let me know what your situation is with your dogs. I'd like to understand where you are coming from. Most of us are coming from the stance that pit bulls, at any time may get amped up a...

Re: question for all the male owners out there

Nero only lifts if he is peeing on my tree which I discourage, he's not a big marker on walks which is nice because i don't really allow it, I don't want to stop every 2 seconds to sniff and pee. He squats 75% of the time and generally pees on his front legs in the process. He was fixed at about 1 y...

Re: another marijuana question

A friend's dog ate a lot of hash and was ok, just seemed scared and out of it for the night, vet said there wasn't really anything they could do except wait it out and keep him calm. We smoke around the dogs but not blowing it in their face or anything, I hate when people try that crap, that's a fas...

Re: 2 newbie puppy questions

Feeding more does the same thing it does to people, makes them fat. Not a healthy state for any puppy. You can't change genetics. APBT are not a large breed anyways, 30-60 is the average range for an adult.

Re: HELP: Stange heat behavior from both dogs

It sounds like she is just trying to initiate play to me, my two "nibble" at each other all the time and both are fixed, he may be smelling an in heat dog in the area and taking out his frustration on her though. I would just keep redirecting. I can't see how a neuter at an older age is go...
