Re: Food and Allergies- need opinions

I know I am very late in reading this post, but one of the things my sisters dog is allergic to is storage mites and her vet told her to keep the kibble in the freezer. From what I read, it looks like you may have given up on the kibble idea for now, but if not maybe try that.

Re: More Allergy Questions

I don't think it is a silly question at all. My vet said about the price and I really don't have that kind of money right now. It might not be the best answer, but it is the truth. Money is pretty tight at our house right now.

Re: More Allergy Questions

Thanks misskiwi67. I LOVE my vet. It is also nice to hear when others think the recommendations are correct. I appreciate his honesty with me. I guess we will see in a couple of months. I went over everything with hubby about the importance of Cash only getting his special food and treats, nothing e...

Re: More Allergy Questions

I spoke with my vet tonight about doing allergy tests with Cash and he said he would recommend we continue the food trial. If this does not seem to work he recommended seeing a dermatologist versus going to him because that would be someone who deals with this on more of a daily basis. We are starti...

Re: More Allergy Questions

I have not done any actual testing for allergies. I know my sisters vet told her she didn't think it was worth it to do testing for foods. If I remember correctly, her vet said they can be pretty inconclusive. I am thinking about calling my vet anyway, to at least see how much it will cost me. So wh...

More Allergy Questions

I read another post about a members dog with allergies and it was recommended to find a food with one protein source. It made sense to me so I am trying this with Cash. Okay, now to the questions- I chose the Naturla balace-duck formula. Can I still give Cash his oil with this since I saw in the ing...

Re: Holistic recipes for dry skin please

I was looking for some holistic things to try bathing him with for the itchyness(sp?). The one groomer where I work suggested trying some things like oatmeal patches like people do when they have really bad poison. I was trying to search this morning for some ideas on the internet like hopefully som...

Re: Holistic recipes for dry skin please

We feed TOTW and rotate protein sources. I am looking for a different food to try. His weight is good. He breaks out in hives very easily and his coat is very dull and grossly flaky. I have started him back on oil, but that has only been about 2 weeks now, so he is not up to the full amount he shoul...

Holistic recipes for dry skin please

Does anyone have any homemade recipes that I could use on my dog for his dry, itchy skin? I have been told to use things like, yogurt, oatmeal even read about bananas, I just don't know how much of what, or what should and shouldn't be used together. I am looking for a recipe that I can bathe him wi...

Re: Tea Tree Oil

Thank you everyone for the advise. The soaps do look awasome. The biggest reason I was concerned about the TTo is my one dog always drinks the water as I bathe him. As far as topical flea stuff, I always put it on the dogs at night, after their last potty before bed. All of my dogs are seperated (3 ...
