Re: Happy Tail

Someone doesn't have to go back to the vet for another FOUR WHOLE WEEKS. Doc was literally flabbergasted when we told him we haven't used a cone in several weeks because Oscar doesn't chew on himself, and commented that his behavior is even improving (which means only that he's filled with normal lo...

Re: pit bull chasing cat

Train your dog to leave the cat alone. The cat does not think your dog is playing. :goodpost: BOTH animals can only be in the room together if they are calm. Otherwise, they are separate. When Rob moved in with me he had two cats that would attack either of my pit bulls. The first time they met was...

Re: Happy Tail

Rob and I have both commented that he's been fun and silly the past few days. It's been a long time since that was his norm - he's been much more subdued, in ways that wouldn't be noticed by anyone who didn't know him well. But he's definitely feeling not just "better than when I almost died&qu...

Re: Seeking help for Simone

I have no experience with him, but despite his claims that he is up to date, he's definitely pushing some old fashioned thinking with all his "be the leader" stuff (still talking about walking through doors first? NOT current in the least) I did find it amusing that he said "not every...

Re: Happy Tail

I didn't think of it when it was a matter of life or death, but I'm now wishing I'd thought to take regular photos of the wound so I could see progression. There's a link to a photo from two weeks (and one day ago) and here's a photo of tonight . Slightly different posture, and slightly fuzzy since ...

Where in Northern VA (feel free to message me) - I can get you some more specific names. Jeni Grant comes to mind. She's terrific, but I'm not positive of her service area.

Re: How should I handle this?

You shouldn't have to do it, but you do. :dunno:

Have cans of meat (chicken or fish) at the ready. Every time you start hearing the noise, open a can and give Ruby the whole can.

Re: socializing my puppy

This is a great website on this issue: http://www.operationsocialization.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (and a great organization, run by a very cool woman) It gives you some ideas of dog-friendly locations that are low on disease risk (Auto mechanics and home improvement stores...

Re: Happy Tail

For the curious, here's a graphic photo (taken last night) (I think that will work) You can see the two flaps on the side, at about 10 and 5 on the clock, that the doc was concerned weren't attaching properly. You can also see the Y-shaped scar from surgery number... uh... three? and also the little...

Re: Happy Tail

You guys rock. What a roller coaster of a morning. Rob and I left for the vet this morning, and he was slightly in front of me. We got separated by some cars, and I couldn't see him anymore, and then when I got to the vet, he wasn't there. I suddenly had a panic attack that when he'd said "driv...

Re: Happy Tail

Yep, #7. Two of those were under light enough anesthetic that they could be done on the exam table, but the other four (and this one) are generals. At least it's been two weeks since his last. I'm really nervous about all these drugs going into his system. I don't even want to worry about long-term ...

It's the lack of sleep, she's delirious. Thank Everleigh.

Re: Happy Tail

*sigh*

Surgery #7 is Thursday. Doc is pleased with most of the growth, but some areas aren't adhering as desired, and that leaves pockets that could grow more infection, so we want that tightened up.
