Re: Cookie has new lumps :(

Cookie is still doing very well, though she is GASSY and yogurt doesn't seem to be taking care of it. Still no lumps, though she will be going in for a re-check in about a week, and I'm pretty sure we'll just keep going with the prednisone.:) Yesterday we found some dated photos from my MIL (her pre...

Re: Weight loss on Prednisone?

On Cookie's first week on Prednisone she lost about 3.5 lbs., but hasn't lost any more since then. She was taking 15mg/day, but is now taking only 10mg/day.

Re: Liberty on the Homefront

I just stumbled across this thread today, and read the entire thing. After reading it, I've decided two things: 1. I recently read "The Lost Dogs", and Liberty reminds me so much of Sweet Jasmine. She looks a lot like her, but her behaviour in the beginning sounds similar too. I fell head...

Re: Rib sits out

I really don't have anything helpful to say, though I *think* I've noticed it on Chloe before, but only at odd angles here and there, and I figured it was just a combination of body position and where she is on her breathing cycle. That aside, I think GIR is so damn cute! Such pretty colors and a fa...

Re: Canned Food

Its rare for me to see a cat that drinks enough water. I don't have exact numbers, but I'd estimate approximately 5 times as many cats die from kidney failure as dogs, mostly related to how hard the kidneys have to work when the body is subclinically dehydrated year after year. This is not an issue...

The prednisone made him want to eat poop and household objects that he would not normally eat. So watch out for that :)

Oh boy, thanks for that tip!

Re: Prednisone side-effects

LOVE YOU Miss Cookie!!!! Glad to hear she is doing well. I want to compliment you on your positive attitude :) You're too sweet, thank you! :) I had some practice with my sister's breast cancer over the last year (she's doing great!) - I just do the best I can. There is only so much that is within ...

Glad she's doing well! (Cookie is on prednisone as well, and she's definitely drinking and peeing a lot more.)

Re: Prednisone side-effects

Thanks MissKiwi! She seems to be handling it pretty well so far. She's feeling good and peppy, though I noticed last night she was groaning a lot. Her lumps are still gone, so we'll take what we can get while we can get it!

Prednisone side-effects

Cookie is on Prednisone (full story here: http://www.pitbullforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=139788" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and I understand that it can make them really hungry and thirsty, but what other side-effects have any of you experienced with dogs on this medication?...

Re: Cookie has new lumps :(

Cookie had a check up tonight, and she's doing really well! She's lost three pounds, her heart and lungs sound good, no temperature. The doctor reduced her prednisone to 10 mg a day and she goes back in a month. Meanwhile, if we have any concerns we're to call. He said that the lumps will come back,...
